How are we nearly into May already? Another month of keeping track of the natural beauty and health products we use each month. I hope you enjoy reading my April 2018 skincare & beauty empties.

April has been so exciting for me and my blog! I ran my first giveaway, for fertility supplements, and I wrote my first proper makeup review where I looked at healthier alternatives to MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick.

This month has been all about trying new products, especially cleansers, shampoos, and conditioners. It irks me I’ve never been able to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner, so I’ve been making a big effort to try new products.

Read on to find out how I got on. It’s a long one, but I hope you find it helpful.

Disclosure: I was gifted The Rose Tree Intensive Balm by The Rose Tree, and Storksak Baby Wash & Shampoo by JDV Healthcare. I chose Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum with points from my allowance as a LoveLula Accredited Blogger. I received Mádara Total Renewal Night Cream and Mádara 3 Step Skin Boost Samples from LoveLula, but my opinions are honest and my own.

The Rose Tree Intensive Balm with Marshmallow & Frangipani

Let’s kick off my April 2018 skincare & beauty empties by looking at this beautiful radiance boosting balm. It contains some really impressive skincare ingredients, such as organic marshmallow to maintain hyaluronic acid, and spilanthes acmella to firm and smooth.

The Rose Tree Intensive Balm with Marshmallow & Frangipani. My favourite product from my April 2018 skincare & beauty empties.

It’s an ideal balm for boosting your skin’s nourishment in winter, so obviously I was all over it during the winter months, which went on forever this year!

Weleda Skin Food

All the years I’ve been using this iconic multipurpose cream, and I’ve never reviewed it on my blog. Soon, though! Wonderful Weleda Skin Food contains healing calendula, chamomile, and wild pansy to heal and soothe.

Weleda Skin Food

I use this cream daily on my hands, feet, elbows, and any place else with dry patches. There are so many other uses for it, though! It’s a brilliant investment.

Weleda Calendula Nappy Change Cream

Last month, we finished off Weleda White Mallow Nappy Change Cream, and now we’ve finished this nappy cream. We were using both at the same time.

Weleda Calendula Nappy Cream

This is such a lovely nappy cream, and I’m almost sad for it to end. We’re using up our Storksak nappy cream, now which isn’t as effective or easy to use.

Lavera Purifying Scrub

A really great value for money natural exfoliating scrub that’s made with jojoba pearls and ginkgo biloba.

Lavera Purifying Scrub

I used this twice weekly to keep my skin smooth and bright, although I’ve moved on to Dr. Botanicals Coffee Scrub now since it came in last month’s LoveLula box.

Storksak Organics Baby Wash & Shampoo

We were sent this baby wash and shampoo in a Storksak travel gift bag a few months ago and we’ve both been using it in the bath and shower.

Storksak Baby Wash and Shampoo

It smells lovely and cleans really well, with english pear, chamomile, and honey.

Swanson Ubiquinol Softgels

My husband and I have been taking Ubiquinol, as several studies point to its ability to improve sperm and egg quality for those over 35.

Swanson Ubiquinol

It worked well for us with Jonah and we’re hoping it will help us conceive baby number 2!

Jack N’ Jill Natural Toothpaste in Banana

Jonah liked this toothpaste. He absolutely loves bananas, so I think this encouraged him to brush his teeth. Although 90% of the time he has no interest whatsoever in brushing them. Ah, toddler life.

Jack N' Jill Toothpaste in Banana

It contains xylitol to help reduce oral bacteria, and organic calendula extract to help soothe and heal teething gums.

Weleda Men 24h Roll-On Deodorant

My mum bought this for my husband at Christmas, but he’s not a huge deodorant wearer. I enjoyed using it, but of course it does smell quite masculine. So I’ll be sticking with Elsa’s Deodorant, which I absolutely love and will be reviewing soon.

Green People Volumising Mascara in Black

I’ve had this beauty open since 2015, unbelievable! I thought it was time to replace it, since it’s getting rather old and dry and I have no idea how it lasted 3 years. Shows how little I wear makeup!

I really love this mascara though. It never flakes or smudges, it thickens and extends lashes well, and is nicely pigmented.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

Such a lovely product, this serum contains nourishing rosehip, jojoba, and borage oils along with frankincense, rose geranium, palmarosa, juniper, and mandarin essential oils. I wear it after my toner and before my moisturiser. I’ve moved on to another oil from my growing collection of facial oils, but I’ll definitely be coming back to this lovely oil.

Mádara Total Renewal Night Cream

This was my first venture into night cream for a long time. It came in January’s LoveLula box. I don’t wear night cream regularly, since I like my skin to remain oil free during the night. I definitely enjoyed using it, but I wouldn’t buy it again since my skin prefers a rest at night.

I’m currently using Dr. Hauschka Night Serum instead, which I will be reviewing soon.

Mádara 3 Step Skin Boost Samples

This trio of skincare products came in April’s LoveLula box. I immediately fell in love with 2 of them!

Mádara 3 Step Skin Boost Samples

I bought full size of Mádara Cleansing Milk, as it’s so good at removing makeup without drying. I also bought full size of Mádara Brightening AHA Peel Mask, as I love the way my skin feels after using it. Also included in the trio was Mádara Smart Antioxidants Fine Line Minimising Day Cream, which I also really liked.

Tabitha James Kraan Organic Hair Cleanser in Golden Citrus

What can I say about this “non-shampoo” from Tabitha James Kraan other than wow? It’s a real luxury to use, smells gorgeous, and my hair looks great after using it. It promises to balance hair and scalp. I bought the travel size of this hair cleanser in Amber Rose straight away, and will review it soon.

Tabitha James Kraan Organic 4 in 1 Conditioner in Amber Rose

I bought travel size of this product too, to go with my shampoo, since I was so impressed with it! It’s so versatile. Use it as a conditioner, a leave-in conditioner, or as a styling aid. My hair had so much body and bounce after using this!

Tabitha James Kraan Scented Hair Oil

An amazing hair oil that left my hair soft and gorgeous. With sea buckthorn, safflower, rosehip, goji berry and argan, scented with essential oils of rose, neroli, and lemon. I’m so tempted to buy full size of this, but it’s very pricey!

Tabitha James Kraan Clean Shampoo in Golden Citrus

I liked this a lot, but prefered TJK’s hair cleanser due to its scalp caring ingredients.

Tabitha James Kraan Clean Conditioner in Amber Rose

Another great conditioner, but the 4 in 1 conditioner trumps it for me due to its versatility.

Pinks Boutique Anti Ageing Deep Cleanse Melt

I’ve been trying to find a replacement for Green People Gentle Cleanse and Makeup Remover, and have since chosen Mádara Cleansing Milk. Before I made my choice, I thought I’d give this balm cleanser a go.

I really enjoyed using it, but I still prefer double cleansing with a cleansing milk, followed by a foaming cleanser.

This is a seriously luxury product, though. I wish I could afford to buy it! As the first step in a double cleanse, it melts beautifully and removes makeup really well. Follow with Ocha Cleanser.

Pinks Boutique Ocha Cleanser

A second step gentle creamy cleanser, or you could try using it as a single step cleanser since it removes makeup, too.

Weleda Oat Replenishing Shampoo

A gorgeous sample from Weleda’s Megan Edwards. I’ll have to try more of this, since it really seemed to nourish my hair.

John Masters Organics Spearmint and Meadowsweet Shampoo

I never thought I’d enjoy using a mint scented shampoo, but I really enjoyed using this free John Masters Organics sample from LoveLula. It feels medicinal and like it is doing some good. I don’t think I could use it everyday, though.

John Masters Organics Citrus and Neroli Detangler

Another free sample from LoveLula, this one made my hair feel great, but it contains silicones which I don’t use on a regular basis since they’re dangerous to the environment and don’t really benefit hair. March 2021 update: John Masters Organics products have been reformulated without silicones.
