LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box review

LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box

I’m new to beauty subscription boxes – the LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box is my first ever beauty box review. I was so excited to receive my box, and even more excited to share it with you!

This gorgeous beauty box contains 8 natural beauty products and 3 full-sized products. The total value of the beauty box is £58, yet it costs just £13.95 as a subscriber.

Disclosure: I received this box to review by LoveLula, but all my opinions are honest and my own.

What’s in the LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box?

Mádara SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Hydra Mask

This gorgeous face mask from Latvian skincare company Mádara is ideal for harsh December weather. It’s an intensive treatment mask that wipes off, or is left on. I’ve also found it to be a very good winter barrier cream.

Mádara SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Hydra Mask

This mask is great if you’re a busy mama who doesn’t have time to leave a face mask on for a long time. Also, if you get interrupted by baba while it’s on, it doesn’t matter! 🙂

It’s Ecocert certified and the ingredients are just beautiful. I feel completely safe as a breastfeeding mama using this product.

With its vintage fragrance, a bit like powdery rose, it feels really pampering. My skin was left super-soft after using it.

Let’s take a look at a few of the beneficial ingredients.

Northern peony

Such a beautiful ingredient for an SOS balm for use in winter. Northern peony helps soothe inflammation, and relieves pain.

Northern peony

In fact, peony has been used in skincare for centuries because it boasts a range of skincare benefits.

Hyaluronic acid

This ingredient helps skin retain moisture and is actually a basic component of the skin. It can help with combating the signs of ageing. Learn more about hyaluronic acid.

Linseed oil

Prevents the skin from drying out, as it’s super-moisturising. The antioxidant properties of linseed oil help to protect skin and combat ageing.

Nettle

Rich in minerals, nettle tackles acne and blemishes, and can help their healing.

Nettle

Nettle is also antioxidant so can help with the signs of ageing.

Mádara SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Hydra Mask 60ml, £35 at LoveLula.

PHB Pure Liquid Eyeliner in Black

I was so excited to discover this 100% natural eyeliner in my LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box. And, I’m happy to say I am totally impressed by it! I don’t wear liquid eyeliner daily, since it takes me too long to apply, but it’s really nice to have one in my makeup bag for special occasions.

PHB Liquid Eyeliner

I like the brush applicator and found the eyeliner easy enough to apply – although I think I need more practise applying liquid eyeliner. It stayed in place all day and was easy to remove.

The eyeliner also comes in Brown.

PHB Pure Liquid Eyeliner in Black 4.5ml, £12.95 at PHB.

PHB Natural and Organic Lip Crayon in Peach

This is a long-lasting creamy matte crayon you can use all over your lips, not just around them. The colour is delicate, but strong enough to show on darker pigmented lips.

PHB Lip Crayon

It does contain tocopheryl acetate which is an ingredient I generally avoid. I wouldn’t use it everyday because of this, but I would use it for special occasions.

The lip crayon also comes in Pink and Tiger Lily.

PHB Natural and Organic Lip Crayon in Peach 4g, £5.35 at PHB.

Mossa Youth Defence Cleansing Creme-Mousse (sample)

Mossa is a brand I’d not encountered before receiving my beauty box and, happily, they’re Ecocert certified. Interestingly, their products focus on the wonderful skincare benefits of nordic berries.

Mossa Youth Defence Creme-Mousse Cleanser

This cream-to-mousse cleanser contains AHA fruit acids from white currant to give glowing and youthful skin.

I really like this cleanser. I have to say it worked really well at removing my eye makeup. However I did find it a little harsher than my usual cleanser, since it left me with some tightness across my cheeks.

Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Cream Mask (sample)

I love and trust the Dr. Hauschka brand and I wish I could afford more of their products, so I was really happy to receive this in my box!

This face mask contains quince seed extract which deeply moisturises the skin and protects it from winter weather. It also contains almond, avocado, jojoba, and rose wax to keep skin smooth and soft.

I found this mask left my skin baby soft and soothed. I used it after spending time outside, when my skin really needed a moisturising boost. I’d definitely buy the full-size product of this mask!

Urban Veda Rose + Botanics Reviving Facial Oil (sample)

Another brand I hadn’t tried before receiving my box. I love facial oils to treat my skin when it’s particularly thirsty, or after using a clay mask.

Urban Veda Facial Oil contains oils from rose hip, borage, evening primrose, hemp seed, sea buckthorn, wheatgerm, pomegranate, and anti-ageing argan, along with rose and Ayurvedic shatavari.

It smells lovely and natural, and my skin feels very soothed after using this facial oil.

I’d love to buy a full-sized bottle of this product as it contains so many wonderful oils in one handy oil.

Urban Veda Rose + Botanics Reviving Day Cream and Neem + Botanics Purifying Protecting Night Cream (samples)

I didn’t use these samples since they contain phenoxyethanol, a popular preservative in natural skincare. It is rated amber on EWG due to toxicity and sensitivity concerns.

Final thoughts

The LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box is really great value for money – the largest item in the box is worth £35 alone.

This is my first beauty box, so I can’t compare the LoveLula box to other natural beauty boxes. However, I’m impressed by the quality and range of the natural beauty products I received. The December picks seem particularly thoughtful for pampering winter skin.

Because I learned about new brands, I feel this is a great way to be introduced to new products. Perfect if you’re in a skincare or beauty rut!

The LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box also includes a voucher taking a hefty 20% off any of the brands included in the box.

The LoveLula Beauty Box costs £13.95 on a subscription basis, or £19.95 for a single month.

Have you tried a beauty box before? What did you think? I’d love to hear from you!

Until next time!

Helen
