LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box review

LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box review

My LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box arrived on Valentine’s day. What a lovely surprise to receive on my doorstep! I look forward to it so much each month. The LoveLula Beauty Box is such a great way to discover new natural skincare and beauty products to try out. It makes my day!

The February box contains 3 full sized natural skincare products and 1 sample size product. The LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box is worth £65, but costs just £13.95 as a subscriber.

Let’s take a look at what was inside this month’s box.

Disclosure: I received this box to review by LoveLula, but my opinions are honest and my own.

Mádara Exfoliating Oil-to-Milk Scrub

Of all the products this month, I was most excited to try this one. Good timing, LoveLula, since my current organic face scrub is about to run out.

First up in this LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box review - Madara Exfoliating Oil-to-Milk Scrub.

This scrub is absolutely brilliant, I love it.

It looks and feels like a gel, but is actually oil-based. It contains coconut, sunflower seed, apricot kernel, and oat kernel oils which soften along with helping the exfoliation process. Wax microbeads gently slough away dead skin cells and blocked pores.

As I worked this natural scrub into my skin, it gradually changed colour and appeared to transform into a milk.

It’s a lot of fun to use! Afterwards, my skin felt so soft and smooth. Highly recommended!

Ooh! Oils of Heaven Avocado Face Oil

I was really excited to try this, since it’s a brand new product to arrive at LoveLula. I’ve heard a lot about Ooh! Oils of Heaven, and who doesn’t love the amazing skincare benefits of avocado?

Ooh! Oils of Heaven Avocado Face Oil

Like all good quality oils, it’s cold-pressed. And like the avocado fruit itself, it’s an excellent source of omega 3 and vitamins A, D and E.

With just 1 ingredient, 100% Persea Gratissima oil, there’s no doubt this oil comes from avocado, since it’s really thick, and very green. It smells strongly of avocado.

Avocado oil for dry skin

Avocado oil is best suited to dry skin types: how to find the right oil for your skin type? It’s occlusive, meaning it locks moisture in, and is rich in oleic acid.

Because of this, I worried the oil would be too rich for my combination skin, but so far so good. I’ve been using it on my dry forehead and chin rather than all over my face. It’s just the thing to treat flaky patches on skin that’s suffered 3 months of harsh winter weather.

I’ve also given my hands a treat with this oil, as they get so rough and sore at this time of year.

In summer, I’d probably not find it so helpful. Instead, because avocado is so good for dry skin, I’d use it on the psoriasis on my elbows, knees and scalp.

Urban Veda Radiance Hydrating Toner

I first discovered this brand in the December 2017 LoveLula Box. I really like how Urban Veda develops its natural skincare products to Ayurvedic principles.

Urban Veda Hydrating Toner

This toner contains some really nice botanical ingredients such as turmeric, marigold, aloe, patchouli and coriander.

However, there are a couple of ingredients in there I’m not too happy with, the most concerning of which is formaldehyde releasing sodium hydroxymethylglycinate. Not sure how I’ll make use of this one since it’s not one I would pass to a friend given that ingredient.

Pure & Light Essential Face Cream

The Pure & Light brand is new to me, so I was excited to learn more about them. This day cream promises to be a lovely treat, with 27 active ingredients including borage, argan, tamanu, orange blossom, and sandalwood, to moisturise the skin and support collagen production. The LoveLula February 2018 Beauty Box contains a sample size of this cream.

Pure & Light Essential Face Cream

I’ll be passing this one along to a family member since it contains phenoxyethanol, which I’m not comfortable using while Jonah is still small and sucking on my face!
