The Rose Tree Intensive Balm review

The Rose Tree Intensive Balm with Marshmallow & Frangipani

I was so delighted to receive The Rose Tree Intensive Balm with Marshmallow & Frangipani from The Rose Tree founder, Olga Rumble.

The Rose Tree are a luxury British organic and natural skincare brand founded by a busy mum trying to nourish her skin and mind. The products are perfect for a mum who likes her skincare all natural. So much of this brand’s ideology appeals to me!

Disclosure: I was sent The Rose Tree Intensive Balm to review. My opinions are honest and my own.

My skincare is for real women, I focus on ingredients that actually make a difference. I like organic; I like my skincare ingredients to not have been fiddled with too much. And I definitely prefer them without pesticides. ~ Olga Rumble

I was so impressed by how clean the ingredients in the products are, and the quality of the packaging. The range comes in beautifully labelled recyclable glassware.

Why choose this balm?

I chose this balm because my skin was feeling really dry and flaky after suffering a cold. I’ve found winter has taken its toll, and despite regular exfoliation, my skin lost some of its glow.

I used this balm on my combination skin alongside my usual moisturiser for extra hydration.

Look and feel

The balm is delicate and fine. It melts at the slightest heat and glides on easily. It smells absolutely gorgeous – the rose geranium comes through, along with frangipani.

I think the beautiful colour of the balm comes from amaranth CO2 extract, and lovely golden beeswax.

The beautiful golden intensive balm

To use, I scoop a small amount from the jar with clean fingers, warm it in my hands, then gently press and roll outwards on my face to avoid pulling on my skin.

I also use a tiny amount on my poor hands, since they’re the part of my body that needs moisture the most at the moment!

It takes a little while for the balm to be absorbed, but it doesn’t leave me with a shiny face despite feeling super-moisturising.

The ingredients of the balm are quite amazing, and clearly chosen with hydration and healing in mind. Let’s have a look at some of the beautiful natural ingredients in this intensive balm.

The Rose Tree Intensive Balm ingredients

Amaranth Seed Oil CO2 Extract, Argan Oil, Beeswax, Corn Starch, Calendula CO2 Extract, Camellia Oil, Chamomile – Blue, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coconut Oil, Frangipani Flower Extract, Isoamyl Laurate, Isoamyl Cocoate, Jojoba, Marshmallow Root Oil, Rose Geranium Oil, Rosemary Extract, Shea Butter, Acmella Flower Extract, Sunflower Seed Oil, Vitamin E.

Frangipani flower extract

This tropical flower extract not only smells beautiful, but is also a very powerful skincare ingredient which works to soften fine lines and wrinkles.

Beautiful frangipani

Frangipani is antibacterial, antioxidant, and supports healthy collagen production. It keeps skin both firm and supple.

Amaranth seed oil CO2 extract

Amaranth is an ancient grain-like seed. A CO2 extract is simply a method of extracting the goodness from the seed using carbon dioxide rather than chemical or heat methods.

Anti-inflammatory amaranth

This extract reduces inflammation, soothes, and calms the skin with polyunsaturated fatty acids, plant sterols, tocopherols, and squalene.

Marshmallow root oil

Not just a sweet treat! Marshmallow root oil contains a mucus like substance called mucilage which is rich in polysaccharides and flavonoids.

Marshmallow root oil hydrates, protects, and soothes the skin, while boosting radiance. It also works well to treat skin conditions such as rosacea.

Calendula CO2 extract

A healing herb that is ubiquitous in skincare products. Anti-inflammatory, and beneficial for psoriasis and eczema sufferers.

Calendula

Calendula makes a great choice for anti-aging skincare. It increases blood flow to the skin, which might explain why this balm gives the skin such a radiant glow.

Acmella flower extract

I hadn’t heard of this ingredient before using this intensive balm. According to Truth in Aging, acmella flower extract is considered a natural alternative to botox because it reduces tension in the muscles of the face.

Final thoughts on The Rose Tree Intensive Balm

This balm is the whole package! A gorgeous product from a gorgeous brand. It restored radiance to my skin – the first time I used it, my husband commented that I appeared to be glowing. It’s rare that my husband comments on my skin like that, so I took it as the ultimate compliment!

It cares so much for stressed or winter ravaged skin that needs extra help. I felt so pampered using this balm – it was like a chat with a good friend who cares.

Mamas, go pamper yourself and get something from this range! It’s so beautiful and will take great care of your skin. You’ll feel totally cared for.

    1. It’s a lovely product! It would be worth a try although some I know go completely back to basics with eczema (products without fragrances even from essential oils).
