Zenon Kition Natural Cosmetics review

Zenon Kition brand review

Sadly, Zenon Kition is no longer making their skincare products. However you can follow its founder, Dori, on Instagram.

In this post, I’d like to introduce Zenon Kition London. I was approached by Dori, the co-founder of the brand, who asked if I’d like to try some products from their range. After seeing the beautiful natural products, I couldn’t wait to try them!

But first, where does the unusual name come from? From ZK London’s website:

Zenon was an ancient Greek thinker, born in Kition (present-day Larnaca, Cyprus). He was the founder of the Stoic school of philosophy in Athens, Greece. His moral ideas laid great emphasis on goodness and peace of mind, gained from living a life in accordance with Nature. We believe in the same philosophy and try to incorporate it in every aspect of our lives.

How does this translate to natural beauty products? Dori is a herbalist, and together with her husband Tas, a cosmetologist, share a love for natural, clean, safe, and environmentally friendly skin and haircare products.

The couple and the brand hold the adage “live according to nature”.

The range of products

All Zenon Kition products are formulated to be potent yet gentle to skin, respecting the soul and senses. The products are made at ZK London’s atelier (workshop) and salon in North London.

The range includes shampoo and hair styling pomade, a face moisturiser, oils for skin and scalp, floral water, and a range of body moisturisers to address various skin needs. All Zenon Kition products are multitaskers – they are so versatile. They also complement each other really well.

I really love the pretty design of the packaging, it seems modern yet still in touch with nature. It’s very appealing.

Here are the Zenon Kition products I chose.

Zenon Kition The Original Body Moisturiser

I use moisturisers daily for my hands, arms, and legs, which tend to get dry very easily.

Zenon Kition The Original Body Moisturiser

This moisturiser comes in a clear glass jar with a plastic lid. The ingredients are super clean – shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and natural vitamin E. The main ingredients are certified organic.

No wonder this moisturiser is so good, since it has such carefully chosen ingredients. Shea butter needs no introduction – it’s very effective at penetrating the skin and is 60% fat, so very moisturising. But it also supports collagen production and contains high levels of anti-inflammatory compounds which protect the skin from damage over time.

The moisturiser has that slightly nutty aroma typical of products containing shea and cocoa butters.

It has a beautiful light whipped texture that melts into the skin.

This is a true multitasking product – it makes a great stretch mark butter, and scalp and hair treatment. You can use it on your baby or toddler to treat dry skin or nappy rash.

It works best if applied to damp skin. What I tend to do is use rose water to hydrate my skin first, then apply my moisturiser over the top of that. This way, less product is needed and the moisturiser sinks in faster.

The results I get with this moisturiser suggest a very high quality product that is well worth the investment. Soft, smooth skin, and the feeling of being completely pampered after using it!

Zenon Kition Rosehip Seed Oil

I’ve never really had chance to use rosehip seed oil on its own until now. I’ve used products that contain it, such as Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum. I know this oil has amazing anti-ageing ability, which is something I think we’re all interested in.

Zenon Kition Rosehip Seed Oil

I currently use a face oil or serum everyday after my toner and before my moisturiser, and this is how I’ve been using this gorgeous cold pressed oil.

It comes in a brown glass bottle with a dropper. It has no fragrance and is a light golden colour.

The oil contains just 1 ingredient – pure virgin rosehip seed oil, lauded for its wonderful skincare benefits. It helps protect against ageing from the sun, improves cell turnover and collagen production, and is chock full of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids.

The oil is also a multitasking product. Use it as a cleanser mixed with floral water, or as a nighttime serum if you like to use oils in your PM routine.

Rosehip seed oil might not be the best choice if you suffer from acne, but for normal skin types it works very well. I’ve had no breakouts with my combination skin.

I love how quickly the oil sinks into my skin, and I think it’s a wonderful oil at a very reasonable price. The dry patches on my face seem to have lessened, and I’m looking forward to seeing more results over time.

Zenon Kition Floral Beauty Mist

I’m a huge fan of floral waters and hydrosols and I use them more than once a day. I’m always on the lookout for a new floral waters to try, so this was a natural choice.

I use floral waters as a toner, and to freshen up, especially in warm weather. They’re also great to set makeup, and to hydrate before moisturising.

Zenon Kition Rose Water comes in a clear plastic bottle with spray.

The only ingredient is 100% pure rose water extracted via distillation of rose petals from Rose Valley in Bulgaria.

Rose water is an underrated beauty product with some amazing benefits. According to ZK London, it is anti-inflammatory, moisturising, nourishing, and can balance the pH of skin and hair, whilst having a therapeutic effect by calming and soothing.

Another multitasking product, use ZK Rose Water to clean the face combined with their face oils. Use it as a toner or simply to freshen up. You can spray it through your hair to hydrate and leave it with a beautiful scent. A few sprays calms the mind whenever it’s needed.

I would’ve preferred this rose water in a dark glass bottle, as this protects the product better. However, I really love this rose water – it’s high quality, works well, and very importantly smells beautiful. I’d definitely buy this again.
