Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant review

Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant review

Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant is a wonderfully refreshing and effective natural deodorant that is free from aluminium salts and won’t clog pores. I love it so much that it’s appeared twice in my empties posts in the last year!

Disclosure: I chose Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant with my credits as a LoveLula Accredited Blogger. My views are honest and my own.

My favourite natural deodorant is Elsa’s Organics Deodorant, but this is my very close second favourite.

I love it for different reasons – it has qualities that Elsa’s doesn’t. Even though Elsa’s is effective, I can’t wear it after shaving, as it irritates my skin. This is where Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant really shines – I can wear it right after shaving without any discomfort at all.

As well as being no-stain, easy to apply, and fast to dry, it smells absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for autumn and winter. Weleda describes the fragrance as fresh and fruity with notes of orange and davana, and velvety-balsamic notes of vanilla.

Rollerball on Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant

The deodorant features a lovely large soft rollerball. Do be careful storing it upside down or shaking it though, as it does leak a little from the sides.

How effective is Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant?

The deodorant does indeed live up to its 24 hour claim. That’s not to say you won’t notice some odour after a few hours, but not the same odour as going deodorant free. One way to combat this is to wash the underarm area and reapply.

Let’s have a look at the ingredients.

Ingredients

Water (Aqua), Alcohol, Triethyl Citrate, Glycerin, Limonene, Sodium Caproyl/Lauroyl Lactylate, Punica Granatum Fruit Juice, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Liquorice) Root Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Phytic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Citral, Eugenol, Coumarin, Farnesol.

How do the ingredients help?

Pomegranate juice has some amazing skincare benefits. It’s anti-inflammatory, which may explain why the deodorant is so soothing. Rich in tannins, pomegranate helps to tighten the pores of the skin and reduce excessive sweating and odour.

Witch hazel has a similar astringent effect.

As for liquorice root extract, Weleda has an ingredients glossary on its website that explains that liquorice root extract is used in cosmetics to soothe the skin.

Farnesol is an essential oil constituent that has useful anti-bacterial properties. A great choice for a natural yet effective deodorant!

Final thoughts on Weleda Pomegranate Deodorant

This is one of my favourite natural deodorants – it checks all my boxes. Aluminium free, effective, gentle, long lasting, and refreshingly fragrant. I highly recommend it, especially if you find some natural deodorants irritating.

  1. I’ve been thinking of switching to a natural deodorant but haven’t, partly because I don’t want to waste a ton of money trying them all out. Thanks for this review

    1. I hope it helps you choose a natural deodorant!

  2. I’d love to smell this! Pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits, so smelling like one is totally tempting.

    1. Ahhh, you’d love it! It’s grown up fruity!

  3. I’ve been looking for a great scented non aluminum deodorant for a while now and this looks like just the one to try. I’m a big fan of the scent of pomegranate so I know I’m going to enjoy it.

    1. Oh it sounds perfect for you! I hope you can try it!

  4. you described him so well! I wanted to try it❤

    1. Thanks so much Anna! It’s gorgeous, a good one to try!

  5. Great review Helen! I love Weleda Pomegranate deodorant as well but have only tried it for the first time this year. I cannot decide whether I love this one more or the citrusy one from Weleda, both are great. I also love Elsa’s deodorant in Dew but I would put Weleda’s deodorants in the first place because they are easier to apply and they don’t leave stains.

    1. Thank you Petra! I love Elsa’s too but they serve different purposes for me. Elsa’s does stain my pale bras 🙁 but it’s more effective for me than Weleda.

  6. I love the smell and benefits of pomegranates!

  7. I’m always on the lookout for a natural deodorant that actually works. When My daughter’s teenage hormones kicked in I would buy her the natural crystal deodorant as I was conscious of her applying anything chemical based and avoiding aluminium. She’s nearly 14 now we recently tried Dove 0 aluminium but it’s just not effective. I’ve looked at buying an Elsa’s Deodorant but this one is a contender. I wish someone would come up with an alternative that actually lasted!! Thanks for highlighting this product. I’ll definitely go have a look.

    1. It’s definitely worth a try. Elsa’s is amazing but it can stain and irritate after shaving. I’m always looking out for new deodorants but Elsa’s and Weleda are always in stock!

  8. I am all about natural deodorant! I need to try this, it sounds like it smells wonderful too.

    1. It’s a great deodorant, I hope you can give it a go!
