Welcome back, beauty lover! And welcome to my July 2020 natural beauty empties! Wow, July! I tried so many new natural beauty products and strived towards a plastic free July. And my empties reflect some of my plastic free choices. My favourite product of July is the wonderfully eco-friendly Beauty Kubes Shampoo. I can’t get enough of these cute kubes!

There’s also a hydrating mask, SPF15 moisturiser, natural lip plumper with peptides, minty foot balm, zero waste bath bomb, heavenly lemon balm water, fruity facial toner, kids SPF, and a travel size glycolic exfoliating mask.

Shall we begin learning more about these products? You can’t beat a review of a totally empty product! Let’s go!

Beauty Kubes Shampoo

Have you seen Beauty Kubes Shampoo before? These cute and convenient shampoo tablets (“kubes”) are a plastic free way to wash your hair. Expect incredibly soft and shiny hair that’s free from the build-up that sometimes happens with standard shampoo bars.

Beauty Kubes Shampoo

They’re vegan, palm- and sulphate-free too. And affordable – you get 27 kubes in a box and each shampoo kube is more than enough for one wash.

Our goal is to offer natural, organic and vegan friendly products – completely free from plastic, sulphates, silicones and other materials that can have highly adverse effects on the environment, skin, and general health.

Beauty Kubes

Beauty Kubes were my first foray into solid shampoo. And I loved them so much that I decided to go plastic free during July, with the aim of using solid shampoos permanently.

Tablets make a great alternative to shampoo bars as the application size is perfectly controlled. I just crush one in a tiny bowl with a little water, mix till it becomes a paste, then massage into my scalp for a fragrant wash.

The change of routine from using liquid shampoo took a little getting used to, but remembering to take a kube and my bowl into the shower soon became second nature.

Beauty Kubes are actually great if you don’t wash your hair every day, like me. The kube is very generous so you don’t need to double cleanse your hair. If there’s any leftover shampoo I use it as a body wash.

My bathroom always smells like heaven after using Beauty Kubes Shampoo – rose and coconut, blended with palmarosa, orange, and grapefruit. Mmmm! My hair is left clean and manageable.

Switching to plastic free shampoo wasn’t as hard as I imagined, but after years washing my hair with liquid shampoo, it was a change of routine that I needed to master. But it’s so worth it, and I’m happy that using plastic free shampoo is reducing my individual impact on the environment.

Mádara SOS Hydra Mask

This gorgeous hydrating “sleeping mask” came in my first ever LoveLula Beauty Box in December 2017 – where has time gone? As the name suggests, this is the mask you turn to when you want hydration and comfort.

Mádara SOS Hydra Mask

It contains moisturising natural sugars, Northern peony, hyaluronic acid, linseed, and nettle. Leave it on overnight or wipe off after 15 to 20 minutes.

Even though it took me a long time to use up, I really enjoyed this mask. I always leave it on my skin overnight for the best results. It’s gorgeous, soft, pink, and pillowy. I find it to be the ideal tonic after over-exfoliating, or using acid-based toners, serums, or masks.

A wonderfully hydrating mask that’s well worth a try.

Antipodes Immortal SPF15 Moisturiser

This is a really good daily moisturiser with SPF. It’s a perfect light SPF for all your family. Antipodes Immortal Face & Body Moisturiser SPF15 contains plant-based hyaluronic acid to prevent water loss. It does a great job at keeping skin hydrated and protected, and is unfragranced.

Antipodes Immortal SPF15 Moisturiser

I use it on cloudy or winter days. I love the ease of application compared with other facial SPFs. It’s almost a jelly-like consistency and there’s no endless rubbing that’s necessary with some SPF moisturisers.

A definite repurchase as we prepare to go into autumn!

Elevé Cosmetics Lip LUV Lip Treatment

This is my favourite item from the lip care lineup in the Cert Clean Beauty Awards 2020. Lip LUV plumps and moisturises lips to hydrate, smooth, and instantly heal.

Elevé Cosmetics Lip LUV Lip Treatment

Using Lip LUV 3 times a day works best, although I did find my lips feeling bare between applications. It contains 2 natural peptides – Maxi-lip™ and Dermaxyl™.

I loved the minty sensation and my plumper feeling and looking lips. I was so happy to find Lip LUV did live up to its claims to define and plump my lips, although the effect is subtle.

Botanicals Foot Rescue Balm

Oh I do love Botanicals! They’re a lovely trustworthy brand with so much to offer. And Botanicals Foot Balm is a great treat for tired and hot feet.

Botanicals Foot Rescue Balm

I loved every application of this refreshing and softening minty foot balm!

Beauty Kitchen Zero Waste Bath Bomb

I picked up this Beauty Kitchen Zero Waste Bath Bomb in my local Holland & Barrett. It was so much fun to watch it whizzing around the bath with Cara! It turned the bath water purple and was so soothing before bed.

Beauty Kitchen Zero Waste Bath Bomb

This was my first time using Beauty Kitchen, and I’m going to look more into this sustainable brand.

Laboratoire du Haut Segala Lemon Balm Water

The French skincare brand Laboratoire du Haut Segala is fantastic for staples such as floral waters and single ingredient oils.

Laboratoire du Haut Segala Lemon Balm Water

Their Melissa (lemon balm) water was so much fun to use! It makes a great leg spray for tired legs. My kids also really liked to spray it on themselves – instant cleanliness (almost)!

JOIK Refreshing Facial Toner

This bi-phase (oil and water) toner came in the June 2018 LoveLula Beauty Box. It’d been sat in my cupboard for a while before I was motivated to use it again.

JOIK Refreshing Facial Toner

While JOIK Refreshing Toner isn’t something I’d buy again, I did enjoy using it. The oil part of the toner contains sea buckthorn oil which is coloured brightly orange. I found it got everywhere and stained things, which made it hard to use.

I do like minty scents, but perhaps not in a toner close to my eyes, although it didn’t sting. If you love minty, this may be the toner for you!

Alteya Organics Kids & Baby SPF30 Sunscreen

I featured this sunscreen in my sunscreens for families roundup last year. It does a great job as a sunscreen – good value for money, sinks in well, smells nice, protects skin, and comes in a flip top tube. What stands it apart is that it’s tinted.

Alteya Organics Kids & Baby SPF30 Sunscreen

This is useful in some ways, and not others. It makes a great facial SPF once it sinks in – there is no white cast because of the pigment. But it does get everywhere, especially if you have little kids! After a year of using this SPF, the advice I would give myself would be to save this Alteya Kids Sunscreen for their face and use a white SPF on their body.

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask travel size

This little travel size has got me all curious for the full size! I really love this mask!

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask travel size

The glycolic and lactic acids do their work for glowing, smooth skin. And it applies like a dream – thick, creamy, and vibrantly citrusy. This one is very much on my wishlist!
