LoveLula October 2020 Beauty Box review

LoveLula October 2020 Beauty Box

Hello again, skincare friend! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the LoveLula October 2020 Beauty Box. This month’s box contains a great selection of natural skincare and beauty products to lead us into the colder months.

October’s subscriber box contains 4 full size natural beauty products and 1 sample sachet. The value of the box is £55, but it costs just £14.95 as a monthly subscriber. If you love natural beauty, subscribing makes a lot of sense! You get to try some really great beauty with a nice discount.

What’s in the LoveLula Beauty Box? There’s a full size natural deodorant from Moi Vert, a full size rosehip serum from Balm Balm, lipstick from Emani, full size hair minimising body gel from Laidbare, and an Antipodes Baptise sample sachet.

Let’s dive straight in!

Moi Vert Natural Deodorant

Oh wow! A gorgeous deodorant in the box! Moi Vert are new to LoveLula, and I’d already checked them out but decided not to try them. Because unfortunately for me, the deos contain bicarbonate of soda which I’ve reacted badly to in the past.

First up in the LoveLula October 2020 Beauty Box - it's Moi Vert Natural Deodorant.

However, this deodorant has been nothing but kind and gentle to my skin!

Not only that, I’ve been totally and utterly pong-free – so I’m a happy lady! And very pleased to have discovered another natural deodorant that works, is simply formulated, eco-friendly, and gentle.

Two words of caution. Firstly, this unfragranced version has a particularly strong aroma of shea butter. It’s not a problem for me! Secondly, the deodorant does leave the odd white mark on clothing, which is easily removed with a rub.

I love that the deodorant is vegan and gender neutral too!

I’m not brave enough to use this deodorant immediately after shaving. But keep an eye on my empties post for an update!

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

I was delighted to find Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum in the box, as I do love the Little Miracle range! This isn’t your average rosehip serum, since it also contains jojoba and borage oils to moisturise and rejuvenate the skin. Expect a truly fragrant experience with added frankincense, rose geranium, palmarosa, juniper, and mandarin essential oils.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

Balm Balm promise the oil will nourish the skin and even out its texture while not overwhelming it with oiliness.

I really love this oil! It’s so light and delicate yet still packs a moisturising punch. It’s light enough to wear in the day and also works fabulously at night with a richer night cream.

Rosehip oil has so many benefits – it helps brighten the skin, and boosts collagen formation while reducing inflammation. It really is great for all ages and skin conditions.

This product makes a great addition to the box and will be loved by all!

Emani Hydrating Lip Colour in Ava

You should’ve seen the little happy dance when I saw this lipstick in the box! It’s so pretty and I love the neutral/muted orange shade, Ava. I’ve heard great things about Emani, but I’m on the fence about this lipstick.

Emani Hydrating Lip Colour in Ava

Emani promise it will “glide on smoothly and effortlessly”, however my experience is anything but effortless because the lipstick feels dry, cakey, and rather hard to apply. But, once on it doesn’t feel drying and my lips feel comfortable and happy enough.

The lipstick has some great benefits – it’s highly pigmented, vegan, and contains vitamins and lip conditioners.

I’d love to try another product from Emani, but it would be hard to part with £19 for a lipstick that’s difficult to apply.

Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

It was okay to find this hair minimising moisturiser in the box. I’ve used a whole tube of it before since it was included in the January 2018 Beauty Box.

Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

I really like the product on merit, but personally it doesn’t make much difference to my body hair growth. The blend of liquorice, caffeine, marshmallow, and horse chestnut seed may well inhibit the growth of hairs in some.

I don’t like that it contains silicones, which I avoid due to their impact on the environment. These silicones probably contribute to the smoothing effect, especially for those who avoid them otherwise.

Despite the silicone ingredients, the gel is very soothing and lightly moisturising. It’s definitely a great leg gel for soothing irritations after hair removal.

Antipodes Baptise H2O Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel sample

Well, I was super happy to find this sample in the box because I’m a huge Antipodes fan and I’ve seen bloggers enjoying this new moisturising gel.

Antipodes Baptise sample

Antipodes promise the lightweight but intensive formula will immerse skin in natural moisture with hyaluronic acid, manuka honey, and hibiscus. The gel is clinically shown to increase skin hydration by 52% after 24 hours.

I really love this light, pink, soft gel with its gentle plum-like fragrance. It lives up to all its claims to keep my skin hydrated all day long.

The only downside is that it contains a hidden plastic ingredient – sodium acrylates copolymer. This isn’t great for the environment, but works well in formulations as a texture enhancer. So although I’m interested in a full size jar, I was surprised that Antipodes would include this ingredient – it’s probably a deal-breaker for me.
