Looking for an honest Typology Glow Drops review? You’re in the right place!

If you’re a tired mum, you’ll know that dealing with dull and lifeless-looking skin is no joke.

Well, as a busy mum of four, I’m here to tell you that Typology Glow Drops are an easy way to boost your radiance every day without makeup. Let’s just say, they help me stop looking like “death warmed up”—as my gran would call it. 😁

I’m talking about the kind of effortless glow you can achieve from a good night’s sleep.

As you know, it’s not always possible when you have kids and not a lot of time!

But products like glow drops can really help to bring out the best in your skin. You don’t have to spend lots of time buffing these drops into your makeup. Just mixing a drop or two in your daily moisturiser is all it takes.

Sleepy parents' skin offer suffers because of lack of sleep

In this review, I’m going to show you how you achieve a healthy, lit-from-within glow using Typology Glow Drops.

I’ll show you some photos of my face before and after applying the drops, and we’ll look at my real-life wear test as I wear the drops throughout the day.

Typology: A French Revolution in Skin Care: Typology is a French brand that prioritises a minimalist, ingredient-first beauty ethic. I actually really love Typology, as they champion plant-based formulas and avoid controversial ingredients. And since their beauty products are totally fragrance free, I feel comfortable using them during pregnancy and breastfeeding, too.

I’ve been a big fan of Typology since I received one of their early blogger PR boxes in 2020

What Are Typology Glow Drops?

Typology Glow Drops are a booster for radiance that you add at the moisturising stage. They work universally to bring luminance and glow to all skin tones.

I don't always apply my Glow Drops this way!

Some people use glow drops to enhance their pale complexion. But they work equally well on tanned skin in summer, or on darker skins, truly highlighting the beauty of the skin.

The drops work in two ways to bring radiance to the complexion both instantly, and over time:

  • Makeup/Cosmetic Effect: The drops contain mica to bring an instant glowing and iridescent makeup effect.
  • Skincare Benefits Over Time:  Antioxidant vitamin C and soothing aloe vera work with the skin to bring glow and soothe over continued use.

The drops are vegan and suitable for all skin types and tones.

Typology Glow Drops: Who Are They Best For?

Let’s kick off this Typology Glow Drops review by looking who will benefit most. Glow Drops are really well suited to:

  • Parents with no time to set the perfect makeup base
  • Minimal makeup wearers who want a little glow up
  • Sensitive skin types
  • Anyone wanting a “healthy skin” glow, rather than sparkle

How To Use Typology Glow Drops?

Simply mix them with your moisturiser or tinted serum for a natural and luminous finish. You can apply them all over as a complexion booster, or just to parts of your face or body as a highlighter.

You can also add them to your foundation base, concealer or over the top of makeup. I find they work best when added to my moisturiser, they give a really lovely natural finish that’s perfect for daytime.

And for those who dislike a matte finish on their skin, using these drops really lifts the look of matte or oil-free skincare or makeup without adding grease or sheen.

Add up to three Glow Drops to your daily moisturiser. For daytime, I like to use just one drop. For evenings, two or more drops works really well. It’s a lot of fun to mix the swirling mica drops into my moisturiser!

Typology Glow Drops Texture & Finish

Texture: The texture of Typology Glow Drops is a lightweight, shimmery emulsion with a slight tackiness, and no greasiness. They don’t take long to sink in and once applied, they feel comfortable and easy to wear.

Finish: Once the product sinks in with your moisturiser, the result is even, and the gentle iridescence doesn’t look at all patchy. The drops bring a gentle glow to the skin without being shimmery, glittery, or making you look like the Tin Man! There is no visible tint from the drops. Instead, your skin will look luminous, well-rested, and healthy.

Perfect for wearing throughout the day, the product does not settle in fine lines or emphasise texture or pores.

With a gentle and skin-barrier friendly formula like this, what’s not to love?

Typology Glow Drops Formula

For the next part of our Typology Glow Drops review, let’s look at the formula. The formula is vegan and silicone-free while using 2 ingredients for its pigment and 15 ingredients in total.

Ingredients for Typology Glow Drops

Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Mica, Benzyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Propanediol, Citric Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Phytate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Tin Oxide +/- : CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides).

Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) for Long Term Glow

Topical vitamin C is a helpful skincare ingredient as it is known to brighten the complexion, reduce dark spots, and slow down photoaging of the skin. Vitamin C gives instant glow and improves skin’s daily stress response e.g. its antioxidant qualities protect the skin from pollutants and aggressors that degrade skin health over time.

Thankfully, the Glow Drops contain vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbyl phosphate. This is a stable form of vitamin C that doesn’t degrade under heat or sunlight.

Glow Pigments for Cosmetic Glow

Mica, synthetic mica, and tin and iron oxides feature in the Glow Drops formula to bring its colour, glow, and iridescence.

Humectants to Bring Moisture

The formula contains humectant glycerine, which helps the skin to maintain its hydration levels.

Aloe Vera to Soothe

Aloe vera is a gorgeous hydrating and soothing ingredient that can help counteract the potentially irritating effects of vitamin C.

Is Typology Glow Drops a Clean & Natural Beauty Product?

Yes, I consider Typology Glow Drops to be a clean and natural beauty product.

Ethereal shot of glow drops

Here’s why: Typology’s Formulation Charter makes it easy to trust the provenance of ingredients and the skin compatibility of products. For example, Typology uses no CMR substances i.e. those that are classified carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction. You can find a full list of substances banned from their formulas also.

Typology products are vegan and cruelty-free.

Thanks to a lack of added fragrance, Typology formulas are simpler and more transparent—no hiding preservatives under the guise of parfum. This brings big wins for sensitive skin, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

At the same time, something I really love about Typology is that they don’t fear-monger surrounding the topic of clean beauty. You just get facts, not emotion surrounding your beauty choices. Well done, Typology!

Is Typology Glow Drops Suitable for Sensitive or Post-Pregnancy Skin?

Postpartum skin can be tricky, so I would say, do a patch test then proceed carefully. The drops contain vitamin C, which can be irritating for some. However, I haven’t experienced any redness or irritation while using the glow drops.

How I Use Typology Glow Drops

Let’s get down to using the drops in real life. Remember to perform a patch test before you try out any new skin care or beauty product.

Here’s me before applying my moisturiser:

No apologies for the lack of filter or editing. Just me and all my beautiful skin imperfections.

My face with no moisturiser or drops.

Mix the glow drops with moisturiser, then apply:

I apply the two products mixed. I’m using Typology 9-Ingredient Face Moisturiser here, but you can use any moisturiser.

Wearing the drops on bare skin:

Finished look wearing the drops with makeup:

I’m wearing L’Oreal True Match Foundation which I consider to be matte and not at all oily. This was shot right after applying Glow Drops.

Pros & Cons of Typology Glow Drops

Pros

We’ve looked at the pros of Typology Glow Drops:

  • Natural-looking glow
  • Lightweight texture
  • Clean, minimal ingredients
  • No heavy shimmer

Cons

Now let’s turn our attention briefly to some of the cons of Typology Glow Drops.

  • Subtle glow: The glow from the drops is very natural, and not dramatic. Think of Glow Drops more like a skincare item than a makeup item. For a dramatic shimmer, consider a highlighter instead.
  • May not suit very oily skin: My skin is not at all oily, so I can’t vouch for how well these drops sit with oily skin.
  • Price vs size: A common complaint with Glow Drops is how small the bottle is. At £24.50 for a 15ml, you could consider this beauty product pricey if used every day.

Final Thoughts on Typology Glow Serum

I really love Typology Glow Drops! They’re a fast way to bring an instant glow up the skin of tired parents, and those who don’t wear a lot of makeup. The clean and minimal formula is so typical of Typology and is sure to go down well with natural and clean beauty lovers who prioritise skincare over makeup.

I’d sit Typology Glow Drops alongside INIKA Organic Radiant Glow, which I love, and is also a liquid, or the fabulous Ilia Lightshift Cream Highlighter, which is more of a traditional powder highlighter.
