Hello again, my lovely! Today I’m introducing Daye – a very special period care company and their CBD infused and sustainable tampons. Daye has truly upgraded the humble tampon, for reasons we will shortly learn about.
But did you know that the vaginal canal is home to more painkilling cannabinoid receptors than any other area? Me neither! Until now.
It’s a new Daye in all things female health.
I was intrigued when Daye contacted me to ask if I’d like to try their CBD tampons. I’ve been a fan of CBD products like CBD oil, and organic CBD gummies for a while, but I’d never encountered CBD tampons before.
Do you suffer with painful periods? For most, it’s a normal part of monthly life as a woman. “When the wall of the womb contracts, it compresses the blood vessels lining your womb. This temporarily cuts off the blood supply – and oxygen supply – to your womb. Without oxygen, the tissues in your womb release chemicals that trigger pain (Source: NHS).
But Daye are here to help! Let’s meet Daye.
Daye tampons
What are CBD tampons and how do they help menstrual cramps?
By now, like me, you might be wondering how CBD in tampons can help. Put simply, CBD is known for its pain soothing qualities, and Daye tampons contain enough CBD to numb the pain of menstrual cramps. Luckily, they deliver their CBD as close as it can get, for a (hopefully) pain free period!
Getting a bit more technical? Our own natural painkilling system, the endocannabinoid system, controls pain relief and inflammation. Our bodies are filled with endocannabinoid receptors. And interestingly, our bodies create their own endocannabinoids, which are very similar to the cannabinoids found in CBD. The CBD in Daye tampons binds to these receptors, delivering blessed pain relief. Thank you, Daye!
Daye CBD tampons contain 100mg of full-spectrum CBD. The tampons are clinically validated and vetted by doctors, so you don’t need to worry. Reassuringly, the CBD in Daye tampons is derived from certified organic hemp and contains zero THC (the component in cannabis that creates a high).
Do CBD tampons work?
I must admit, I was a little skeptical at first. I really believe in the powers of CBD but as a cannabis user in the past, I never found it to relieve pain in any massive way.
But let me tell you, these CBD tampons work an actual treat!
Here’s my experience using Daye CBD tampons
Each tampon comes wrapped in paper or water soluble film, and it’s easy to remove from the tampon from its wrapper. It looks like any regular applicator tampon to me.
Daye tampons feature a protective sleeve to stop shedding, but this doesn’t seem to affect application. The tampons are just like any other applicator tampon to insert. Helpfully, they use bio-based sugarcane applicators which are a sustainable alternative to plastic. As I’ve not used tampons for a while, it took a bit of getting used to it again. However once I got the hang of it, it was a good experience. Once in place, the tampon felt comfortable.
The protection with Daye tampons is excellent. I remained leak free using super for the first 2 days, then regular for the remaining days.
The CBD tampons are just like the naked tampons to use. But let me tell you more about the pain relief. After inserting a CBD tampon, the effects of the CBD took hold after about 10 – 15 minutes. My cramping simply melted away, and stayed away until my next tampon. Amazingly, I was able to have a pain free period!
Luckily for me, I only have 1 day of pain with cramps. I get nagging back pain a few days before my period, and I believe Daye offer a CBD balm which I have my eye on for next month.
But imagine how much these tampons could help those who suffer badly with painful periods. If you are that lady, you have to try these tampons!
Aren’t tampons bad for the environment?
Perhaps not in this case. The tampons themselves are made from certified organic and unbleached cotton, grown without herbicides, pesticides, GMO, and free from any of the synthetic and harmful processes that mainstream tampons undergo.
I’m not sure how they measure up to period panties, reusable pads, and menstrual cups, but Daye have put a lot of thought into their sustainable packaging. We’ve already mentioned the bio-based sugarcane applicators and water-soluble wrappers. But Daye also use recycled and recyclable paper mailers, and bio inks. This commitment to sustainability sets them apart from conventional tampon manufacturers, and indeed some reusable period companies. So if tampons are your thing, or you want CDB pain relief, Daye tampons should be your go-to!
Tell me about the Daye tampon subscription service
Now let’s look at how we can get our hands on this goodness each month. Daye provide a really handy monthly tampon subscription service tailored to your cycle.
They offer CBD tampons and non-CBD tampons in a range of flows from super to regular. You can mix and match, which is what I did on my first try. I used CBD super on the first 2 days of my period, moving to naked regular for subsequent days.
CBD tampons are awesome on days where cramping is the most debilitating. But per tampon they cost twice as much, so they’re best saved for when it hurts most. It’s interesting to note that Daye tampons are cheaper than the cost of buying organic tampons and period pain care bought separately.
A subscription box contains 12 or 18 tampons. I love how I can create my own subscription box.
Whats in the Daye box?
- 12 or 18 tampons
- Beautiful tampon case
- Organic cotton storage pouch to keep it all together
Modify, skip, or cancel at any time, and the shipping is free over £50.
