Let’s celebrate sustainable beauty with the first ever Natural Cosmetics Week, which runs from the 23rd to the 29th November 2024.
In its first year, Natural Cosmetics Week aims to help us all embrace nature to empower our skin.
What is Natural Cosmetics Week?
Natural Cosmetics Week is a worldwide event celebrating natural beauty, aiming to inspire people to choose skin- and eco-friendly cosmetics. This year’s theme, “Embrace Nature, Empower Your Skin,” highlights the benefits of natural ingredients for skin health while promoting sustainable practises in the beauty industry.
Created by NATRUE, the initiative advocates for greater transparency and authenticity in the products we use.
Who is NATRUE?
NATRUE is an international non-profit organisation. As a matter of fact, it promotes and protects natural and organic cosmetics.
NATRUE’s mission includes advocating for transparency in the beauty industry, supporting eco-friendly practices, and educating consumers about the benefits of using authentic natural and organic products.
Their certification logo, often seen on products, serves as a trusted mark for those seeking genuinely natural cosmetics.
What is NATRUE Certification?
Only brands that meet its strict standards gain NATRUE Certification on their natural and organic cosmetic products. Indeed, the standards ensure that products meet specific criteria for purity, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
So, what can you expect from NATRUE certified products?
- No substances derived from GMOs, silicones, parabens, or microplastics
- Only 100% natural, naturally-derived, or nature-identical ingredients
- All products undergo external, independent certification to ensure full transparency
- NATRUE products contain no synthetic fragrances or mineral oils in their formulations
NATRUE Certified Products
In order to get a feel for some of the products with NATRUE certification, NATRUE very kindly sent me a box of beautiful skincare to try.
I’ve been trying these NATRUE certified products as part of Natural Cosmetics Week. They’re all from some of my favourite natural and organic brands who champion sustainability and natural ingredients.
Let’s have a look in the box!
Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Day Cream
The cult classic Weleda Skin Food reimagined as a day cream, with all of the same beautiful botanicals such as organic calendula, chamomile, rosemary, sunflower seed oil, and shea butter. Additionally, protective olive leaf extract and skin-conditioning olive squalane add to the formula that promises a healthy skin barrier.
This day cream is hands down one of my favourites. In fact, it’s so perfect in so many ways – texturally elegant, and with a gorgeous scent. But it works hard by delivering hydration and all-day-long moisture. The price point for all these benefits and ingredients is extremely reasonable. Additionally, the healing botanicals are lovely in winter, too.

Aeos Realive Serum
It was such a lovely surprise to find this award-winning serum from Aeos in the NATRUE box. It promises to visibly plump, smooth, and revitalise the skin for maximum radiance. As you would expect from a NATRUE Certified product, you will find a luxurious blend of organic and biodynamic plant extracts plus naturally-derived hyaluronic acid.
Indeed, what bowled me over about this serum is the unique spagyric extracts created from opal, amethyst, charoite, turquoise, emerald, quartz, and chrysoprase – said to rejuvenate the skin and balance emotions.
In order to use it, spritz your face with a hydrating mist first before applying a small amount of the serum. It is light, soothing, delicately scented, and sinks in quickly. My skin has gained a definite glow thanks to this serum.

Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream
Next up is Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream, which offers gentle cleansing and exfoliation in one step to leave your skin refined and refreshed. Thus, you can expect high quality medicinal plant extracts of calendula, chamomile and anthyllis, with creamy sweet almond to cleanse and balance skin and minimise pore appearance.
You really do have to know this cleansing cream to love it. Wonderfully, it sends me back to my early days of discovering natural beauty products for the first time, since it was one of the first natural cleansers I used. The scent is divine and the mealy texture is oddly satisfying. It’s a real sensory treat – and ideal for gentle winter exfoliation.

Lavera Basis Sensitiv Lip Balm
Undeniably, the feeling of intense moisture on your lips in winter is a real comfort. Get all this and more with Lavera Basis Sensitiv Lip Balm. This protective vegan lip balm is made with organic jojoba and almond oils, and thankfully – is one that sticks around.
Strangely, it’s meant to be vanilla-scented, but I’m not detecting that in my lip balm. However, I’m coming out of a cold, so perhaps my sense of smell isn’t so great. That said, I really do love this lip balm, though. Undoubtedly, it protects my lips for a good while, even on three school runs per day!

Ben & Anna Love Me Deocreme
Next up, the Ben & Anna Love Me Deocreme was a lovely surprise to find in the box. This natural deodorant offers 48-hour protection thanks to finely ground bicarbonate of soda, which naturally reduces bacteria to diminish body odour.
My first thought on discovering it inside the box was wow, what an interesting deodorant packaging solution! Amazingly, it’s made from potato starch so it’s super sustainable. I couldn’t wait to crack this beauty open and try it – and I was so pleased when I did. The cream deodorant has such a beautiful delicate smell. I love that it contains nourishing shea butter and valuable oils to pamper my skin.
It is quite hard to get it out of the pot, but a little warm up between the finger tips does the trick. It doesn’t mark my clothing, and my underarms remain sweet all day, which is huge! We’ll see how it fares in a few weeks, as our bodies do have the tendency to react to deodorants differently over time. Sometimes bicarbonate of soda based deo irritates my skin, but so far, so good.

Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castille Bar Soaps
Last but certainly not least, my kids were happy to find a big bar of Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castille Bar Soap in the box. I love that these soaps are made with certified fair trade ingredients and include organic hemp oil for baby soft skin and no drying effect. The soap’s ingredients are 100% biodegradable and the soap is packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
Basically, what’s not to love about these awesome soaps? I’m so pleased we received the baby soap as this one is great for hair, body, hands, you name it. The kids love playing with it too since it makes lots of bubbles and holds its shape well.
