Welcome back, my friend! Today I’m delighted to share a makeup lover’s dream – it’s The English Mineral Makeup Company! And in this post I’m so excited to introduce the brand and show you how I achieve a flawless base with two English Mineral Makeup Company products – the Classic Foundation and the fabulous Mirror Mirror Eye Magic.

Who is The English Mineral Makeup Company? Founded by mother and daughter duo Jeanette and Grace Burrows, you can expect 100% natural, vegan, and pure mineral formulas that enhance your natural beauty and add a touch of English elegance to your makeup collection!
Together, we created a beautiful brand that has no compromise for quality or effectiveness, and is a genuinely original, clever and versatile makeup.
Expect a natural, glowing and flawless finish with their range of natural mineral makeup and skincare. And I love that there are no fillers or dubious powders like talc or bismuth.
The pros and cons of minerals
First, let’s talk about why you would choose minerals over other types of makeup. Mineral makeup is pure pigment with no added oils or waters. Because there is no water, there is no need for preservatives, stabilisers, etc in the product’s formulation. In theory, you get a purer and gentler product.
Mineral powders are so gentle that they’re recommended after plastic surgery or invasive treatments. Naturally anti-bacterial, they also offer a degree of protection from the elements – but don’t let that stop you using your sun protection!
The downside to minerals, I find, is that skin needs the right prep. It’s it’s too dry, too oily, or I apply my mineral makeup too soon after my skincare, I can run into problems.
With a little prep – exfoliation and a good face oil or primer, it’s easy to get great results!
Personally, I love mineral makeup. I love its lightweight skin feel, the way it’s so easy and quick to apply, and the matte but dewy finish I can achieve when I get it right.
Let’s look at The English Mineral Makeup Company in more detail.
The English Mineral Makeup Company
Classic Foundation
This is loose mineral makeup, described as a beautiful clean mineral foundation offering outstanding coverage.
Ingredients
Micas, Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Zinc Oxide (CI 77947), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499) Silica Microspheres, Ultramarine Blue (CI 770077), Chromium Oxide Green (CO 77288), Carnauba Wax.
Because there are so many colours to choose from, the first step to get started is to figure out your shade. I highly recommend the matching service offered by Jeanette and her team. I sent my photo over and within hours they’d selected a shade for me – Cool Light. Which is actually spot on!
When my makeup arrived, I was delighted with the beautiful cardboard cartons.
Inside the carton, I found the makeup – housed a plastic clam shell sifter compact with a mirror, a beautiful mini kabuki application brush, and a drawstring handbag pouch in a natural fabric.
How to apply
To apply the makeup, tap a small amount of the powder into a small mask bowl or something similar.
You can then pick up the powder with the included mini kabuki brush, tapping any excess off the brush before applying.
Use the mini kabuki to apply the makeup upwards and outwards. You can use a smaller brush around your eyes and mouth.
The brand has a range of kabuki brushes. I use the square kabuki that comes with Eye Magic to blend and buff once the makeup is on, and it works nicely.
What about applying this makeup on the move? The compact comes with a small soft foam pad that stops the powder from spilling out. You could try this. Personally, I haven’t.
As you can see from my untouched photo, the pigmentation and coverage is great. I find it easy to get an even finish, and the makeup lasts all day until I double cleanse it away.
Sometimes, I notice a little too much powder settling in the fine lines around my mouth. In this case, I know I’ve applied too much. To fix it, I use the square kabuki to buff the powder away. I highly recommend watching the brand’s application videos for expert tips.
All in all, I’m very happy with this mineral makeup and its beautiful packaging. My skin is naturally enhanced, and the coverage blurs out my imperfections. I feel beautiful!

Mirror Mirror Eye Magic
A dreamy under eye illuminator that cleverly conceals dark circles and puffy under-eyes. It promises to give a more youthful appearance, diminish shadows, and disguise fine lines. Mirror Mirror comes as a fine, gold powder that bounces light back for a youthful appearance.
Ingredients
Micas (CI 77019), Clear Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Arrowroot Powder, Colloidal Oatmeal.
So what’s in the box? Mirror Mirror comes in the exact same packaging as the Classic Foundation. The only difference is in the brushes.
How to apply
Mirror Mirror comes with a small application brush, which for some reason was missing from my box, so I can’t comment on. I did, however, find a similar firm concealer application brush in my collection that seems to work well for me.
The product also comes with a gorgeous square kabuki, whose long bristles are intend to brush away excess product and buff to perfection.
To apply, I pick a little up with my application brush then tap to remove the excess. Only the smallest amount is needed, otherwise the product will show under your foundation. I gently sweep the product over my entire under-eye area, then use the square kabuki to blend and buff.
This was my first time using an under eye illuminator, and I have to say – I love it! It’s intended to be used under your foundation. I think you could use it alongside your regular concealer, although I haven’t tried this.
I love how the gold colour balances out purple and blue tones under my eye, and the light reflecting particles appear to flatten out the puffy bulges under my eyes (thanks, baby Lydia!).
I’m more than happy with this clever under-eye illuminator. It’s easy to apply, covers well, and importantly, it lasts and doesn’t go patchy. My eyes look much brighter and I appear to have slept well! I’m pretty sure you could use this as a highlighter on other areas of your face for extra glow, too!
Well done The English Mineral Makeup Company for creating this look good, feel good product!

A word on the mica used in these products
In recent years there has been concern about mica used in cosmetics. The English Mineral Company reassures us that their mica is “sourced from companies that have clear policy on child labour and humane mining practises.”
