Eleanor, it’s your second birthday!
How is my youngest cherub and the baby of the house 2 years old already?
Who is Eleanor at 2 years old? You are sunny, vibrant, happy, vocal, helpful, and a pleasure to be with. You are exceptionally loving. When you wrap your little arms around my neck, my heart melts for you. I could breathe you in.

You are without a doubt the most polite toddler I’ve ever met. Since you started to talk, you’ve always said “please” and “thank you”. Your two eldest siblings are the complete opposite and still don’t say please and thank you without prompting at 9 and 6!
We’re still breastfeeding. Still co-sleeping. With my first baby, the reasoning and timing of all my parenting choices seemed to matter, but now all that matters is loving you while you are still small and need me. As a mum to four, I know how fast these early years can go.

You love your elder brother Jonah and having a game of chase with him is perfect. You love to play with your big sisters too, and that means dress up, tea parties, and dolls. Cara mothers you completely, it is adorable – helping you with food, toys, and arts and crafts.
People are always asking me, “is she at nursery yet?”. The answer is “not yet!” – luckily, we have another year with you before that.
Your big thing is art – you are always making marks and you literally lose yourself in colour.

Favourite toys – you love playing dress up and playing with dolls. You also like bricks, blocks, and sensory toys. You like messy play too, but you’re very aware of getting mucky!
That being said, you’ve been quite happy with a bucket of sand over your head thanks to your sisters!
You take a liking to a particular toy, then it comes everywhere with you – school runs, car trips, and even to bed. Yes, the toddler who takes her toy stethoscope to bed.

You love Peppa Pig and Baby Shark but you’re quite happy to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters with your sisters, too.
Favourite foods: You love all fruit, biscuits, and cereal. You don’t like much meat. Maybe we have a little veggie in our midst?
Your worst moments are when you are ill – I literally dread you getting a cold because you are the most whiny and clingy toddler ever and I get nothing done – but I wouldn’t have it any other way. You can be super jealous and possessive of me as well, and in the past year we’ve seen these traits emerge. You’re cute and lovely with it somehow.

Now, let me tell you about the practical things, because I’m sure you’ll want to know about these when you are older. You wore a Pavlik harness as a young baby. Despite this, you’ve had no problems at all figuring out crawling and walking, milestones you reached at a normal age.
Your talking is just where it should be, too. Two words in a sentence at two, as they say.
Do you know Ellie, because we have 3 other kids, I feel like you’ve had to fit in with our busy lives. It’s funny how adaptable kids are, even toddlers. Thanks for being so adaptable and putting up with our busy and hectic family-of-six-ness! And thanks for bringing us so many moments of joy.
Eleanor, you are two and we love you to bits!

I’m looking forward to another year together – I love being your mama! Keep being the most wonderful daughter that you that you are, Eleanor!
Lots of love, from Mummy xx
