Welcome back my friend! In this post, I’m sharing the labour essentials that have got me through four unmedicated Hypnobirth labours. I first shared this post while expecting my second baby in 2018. We’ve welcomed two more babies since then, so I’ve had plenty of trial and error finding out what products are worth your money, and which are not. These are the items you’ll use to make your Hypnobirth labour easier and more comfortable! A useful tip: I take my labour essentials with me separately so I can access everything easily without it getting mixed into my other postpartum and hospital bag items. Having these items in an easy to access pack makes me feel so well-prepared in my final weeks. I hope you enjoy reading about them! Labour essentials checklist Here’s the list of essentials: Birth preferences and notes Undoubtedly the most important part of your labour essentials!…

Since I’m a few weeks into my third trimester, I thought it would be a good time to share my third trimester essentials and a 7 month pregnancy update. The third trimester brings a whole new set of needs, doesn’t it? For me, it’s all about preparation. Things are about to get real! There’s the practical preparation, like washing my baby’s clothes and planning who will care for Jonah. But there’s also the physical and emotional preparation for labour, birth, and life with a newborn! During my third trimester with Jonah, I followed a HypnoBirthing course with my hospital. This pregnancy, I’ve used the same HypnoBirthing practise since the start of my third trimester. I have a nice daily routine of listening to affirmations, breathing practise, guided relaxation, and drinking raspberry leaf tea. Soon, I’ll be doing perineal massage and eating dates. Third trimester essentials checklist Emotionally, I’ve been up and…

Welcome back! In this post I’m sharing the best perfume for pregnant women. Starting with whether perfume during pregnancy is safe, why to choose natural perfumes, and sharing some recommendations for pregnancy safe perfumes. I’m talking about natural fragrances that are non-toxic, clean, with natural ingredients that are less likely to overwhelm your heightened sense of smell. Buckle up, because this is a deep dive into perfume for pregnant women. If you’d prefer, you can skip straight to the perfumes, or download the free PDF list. When I fell pregnant with my first baby, one of the first pregnancy symptoms I noticed was how I perceived fragrance. No longer could I stand many of the fragrances in my collection. Synthetic fragrance had me gagging, it was awful! Have you experienced this? Many pregnant women experience this heightened sense of smell, thanks to hormonal changes. And if you previously loved fragrance…

Back in December I posted about us trying for a second baby, and I shared my natural fertility essentials. Well, I am overjoyed to announce we’re pregnant! I’m currently 25 weeks, and feeling very big and hot! And I can’t wait to share my second trimester essentials with you! Pregnancy is a time when many women look to clean up their beauty routine. Now you’re thinking about the precious little one growing inside, as well as yourself. But in the second trimester, you can relax a little as the chances of loss are lower and your baby’s organs and limbs are formed. That’s one less thing to worry about. And for me, that means introducing essential oils back into my routine. The second trimester of pregnancy is also a time when you need to take special care of yourself and your skin. Your belly and boobs are growing, your skin…

Are you thinking about cleaning up your beauty routine? You’re not alone! Almost 50 percent of consumers buy natural beauty products, and 8 percent want to, according to Yes To (source). If you’re in the 8 percent, or still unsure whether cleaner beauty is for you, I’d love to help you. By sharing my definition of cleaner beauty, I hope I can help you explore what cleaner beauty might mean to you. I’ll be looking at the reasons why you would want to clean up your beauty routine in the first place. Then, I’ll be sharing my favourite clean beauty brands who I completely trust, and who take the guesswork out of buying natural beauty products. I may be preaching to the converted, but if not then I really hope I can inspire you to spring clean your beauty shelves, especially if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have children. What is cleaner…

In this post, I’d love to share with you healthy ways to prepare for a second pregnancy. Yes, we’re trying for another baby! We’ve been trying for 4 cycles so far! This post will focus on the healthy things you can do to get your body ready for a second pregnancy, and is especially relevant if you’re a breastfeeding or older mum. I hope you’ll find this post really helpful! In another post, I’ll also talk about my worries and fears, and how I can overcome them. They’re worries shared by virtually all pregnant women – I’m sure you mamas can relate! I will link to that post once it’s completed. Some backstory: it took 15 months for my fertility to return after Jonah. I do think it’s awesome that for many women, breastfeeding controls fertility. Our bodies know whether or not we’d be able to cope physically with the…

Pregnant and still using mainstream beauty and skincare products? If you haven’t already, here are four beauty products to rethink before baby arrives, and some great alternatives that are kinder to baby, you, and the environment. How much of what we put on our skin is absorbed? In researching this blog post, I wondered how much of what we apply to our skin actually gets absorbed. Figures fly around the internet at something like 60 – 70%. Well, this isn’t true, because there is no one magic percentage. This article explains why we don’t know how much of an ingredient will be absorbed when applied topically. To step back a little, penetration and absorption are actually separate things – penetration is where a chemical makes it down into the deeper tissues of the body. Absorption is where a chemical actually enters the bloodstream (source). Both depend on several factors: When pregnant or breastfeeding, and…
