June 2018 natural beauty empties

It seems like I’ve used many natural beauty products this month – probably true, but there are several single use products in my empties collection, like sheet masks. You’ll also find several regular use products like moisturisers and exfoliators from previous LoveLula boxes. All the packaging has been recycled, where it can be. I hope […]

WINTER SKINCARE 🌿 My kids have loved playing in WINTER SKINCARE 🌿 My kids have loved playing in the recent snowfall! Swipe to see those rosy cheeks! But, adults and children alike – winter brings out the worst in our skin. I've compiled a big list of winter skincare tips to take care of your whole family. They include: ❄️ Using moisturisers religiously and which work best for kids. ❄️ Keeping your moisturisers in the right place so you can use them at the right time e.g. in your handbag, next to the sink, car. ❄️ When to use moisturisers for the best results. ❄️ Differences between dry and dehydrated skin and what products work best for each. ❄️ Introducing a hydrating serum and some to try. ❄️ Swapping out cleansers and body products for milder but richer versions. ❄️ Adjusting your exfoliation routine. ❄️ Treating your scalp and what products to use, and more. See my link in bio or head to naturalbeautywithbaby.com. Some of the mentioned brands: @everedenbrand, @fableandmane, @holifrog, @lyonsleaf, @ravenbotanicals, @weledauk. How do you change your routine and products in winter?
CARA IS 5 🌿 Hello again, my dear. I hope you're CARA IS 5 🌿 Hello again, my dear. I hope you're having a good week? Last week we celebrated the birthday of my eldest daughter, Cara. No longer the tiny baby that came in a hurry at home. Now, Cara is a big brave girl venturing out into the world without me. It is both exhilarating and heartbreaking! How to describe Cara? Capable. Tactile. Fun. Loving. She's a girly girl who loves dresses, fun hairstyles, dolls etc, but she's not flouncy. She loves rough and tumble, Alexa farts, stories, slime, and things falling off cliffs. She gets super enthusiastic about the things she loves. It’s very infectious! Join me as I remember the past memorable year (starting school, new sibling!) with my eldest daughter, Cara. The link is in my bio. How do you feel about your kids growing older?
LYDIA IS 2! 🌿 Hello my dear. I hope the week is LYDIA IS 2! 🌿 Hello my dear. I hope the week is treating you well? Last month, our little Lydia turned 2! This little girl melts my heart. She's kind, sensitive, and has a really big heart. She loves to share and include others. We have started to see some of the 2 year old sass in the last few weeks though! But we are prepared for it. I think 2 year olds really start to see how small they are in a big world, and with all their big feelings too! It's hard as a parent to help them through the challenges that seem so silly to us - their tantrums and flip-flopping. I always try to remember that if she's giving me a hard time, she's probably having a hard time herself. And to remember that her brain is nowhere near as developed as mine. It's up to me to be her guiding light! And let her feel her feelings fully, not to stifle her with distractions and admonishments. I've been reading Tears and Tantrums: What to Do When Babies and Children Cry by Aletha Solter. It's absolutely changed what I know and how I feel about crying. In a nutshell, rather than try to stop our child crying - we embrace it for the normal stress-releasing function it is. It's good for them. Fascinating stuff and very insightful. There's always a name for these things - in this case it's aware parenting. I've written all about Lydia at 2 years old in a birthday letter and blog post. If you fancy reading it or checking out the book, I've put the links in my bio. How do you feel about toddler tantrums?
AUTUMN GARDEN 🌿 I'm so grateful to see the turn AUTUMN GARDEN 🌿 I'm so grateful to see the turning colours in the leaves of all the trees we planted last year in our new and bare garden. 🍁 Native hedging - field maple, hazel with its giant leaves, pink and orange spindle. Perhaps unconventional choices for a garden in a suburban part of town. But which we are losing so much of in the countryside. To shield our children from the summer sun and give them privacy. Something to run around and hide under. The cycle of the autumn die back, and spring re-emergence. 🕸️ To encourage a home for birds and bugs and slugs, and dainty drops on spider webs, so they can wonder at the marvels of nature. Happy Halloween! Whether or not you celebrate it, I hope you have a lovely autumn day.
ELEANOR'S BIRTH STORY 🌿 Hello again, my dear! I ELEANOR'S BIRTH STORY 🌿 Hello again, my dear! I hope you're well and enjoying your week? I'm just hopping on to share a little update on my beautiful family. 💕 I can’t believe our new baby Eleanor is now nearly 10 weeks old. We’re slowly finding our groove again as a family, but we're still very much in the new baby bubble. I've said this before, but Eleanor is definitely our final baby - making her birth and babyhood all the more poignant to me. Having four young children all so close together in age is indeed a challenge, but it’s a rewarding challenge with daily love, sharing, and learning together. Jonah is doing great - he's really into gaming and almost as tall as me already! We're waiting on the results of his autism assessment. Cara started school in September and she's enjoying new friendships, a love of art, and recognising the sounds in letters. Lydia turned 2 earlier this month and had a lovely party. We've been enjoying toddler groups again. She's still getting to grips with not being the baby of the family anymore, but she loves "Ell-nor" with all her kind heart. I've previously written about my children's births on my blog, and now I've posted Eleanor's too. If you like birth stories (peaceful hypnobirth), then come and have a read - link in bio.
ISUN SKINCARE 🌿 My youngest two are both sleepi ISUN SKINCARE 🌿 My youngest two are both sleeping, and it's almost school run time. With 4! Ad. But before I do that, I'm delighted to share my thoughts on a very special brand indeed – it’s ISUN Skincare @isunskincare_official! Hailing from the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, ISUN products promise to encourage the light within us to radiate, using wild-crafted and organic herbs, pure plant distillates, essential oils and butters. I was very lucky to be sent several of the brand’s products to try, including ISUN’s Sapphire Travel Pouch containing a mini cleanser, facial oil and moisturiser, and the brand’s wonderful Antioxidant Sun Butter, which protects the skin up to SPF27. The natural fragrances and textures of the Sapphire range of products are perfect for parched post-summer skin. Think soothing cucumber, healing calendula, and calming chamomile. I've not been this obsessed with a skincare line for some time! If you’re a busy parent hoping to carve out some special time for yourself, then this is the skincare brand that’s sure to delight! I feel so pampered using it. Come and find out why this skincare fits into your post-summer routine so well, over on my blog! Link in bio. Have you tried ISUN skincare?
SHE'S HERE! 🌿 I'm updating a bit late, as the l SHE'S HERE! 🌿 I'm updating a bit late, as the little lady came on her due date - over a week ago. Meet Eleanor Hadley Little! We've been in the newborn bubble ever since. 💕 We had a short and uncomplicated #hypnobirthing labour. However she had meconium in the waters and the pushing stage was very short, so she did have some mucous in her system which led to slow-to-start feeding. She's very sleepy and doesn't want to feed much so I'm pumping lots to keep #breastfeeding going. Her brother and sisters dote on her, they just want to mother her all day! It's a busy, busy time. 🙃 We're so in love with her, she's a beautiful little soul 👶 Hope you're having a good bank holiday weekend? I barely know what day it is. 😂
PREGNANCY & THE VAGINAL MICROBIOME 🌿 Ad. Hello PREGNANCY & THE VAGINAL MICROBIOME 🌿 Ad. Hello again - I hope you're doing good and Monday is treating you well? I'm 39 + 4 today, so the end is in sight. I'm tired but excited. Can't be long now! Teaming up with @yourdaye, this pregnancy has given me the chance to answer some really interesting questions. One of these is how does pregnancy change the vaginal microbiome? You probably already know that our vagina, just like our gut and skin, is home to millions of strains of “friendly” and “unfriendly” bacteria, yeasts, and other microorganisms. Luckily, most of the time, these organisms live in perfect balance. Sometimes, this balance is disrupted - causing health problems. Perhaps an infection, thrush, or even affecting our ability to fall pregnant naturally or sustain a healthy pregnancy. I had no idea it could affect our health in so many ways! In my latest blog post, link in bio, I take Daye's Vaginal Microbiome Screening test to find out my vaginal flora and assess the results. In a few weeks, after our baby arrives, I'll take another to compare the results. It's so interesting to learn more about this fascinating area, and there's so much we still don't know about the importance of the body's flora! If you're interested, come and find out the results of my initial screening test, over on my blog! Have you tried a screening test like this before?
37 WEEKS 🌿 None of my clothes fit me, the house 37 WEEKS 🌿 None of my clothes fit me, the house is always a mess, the beds aren't made (thanks summer holidays), but I was feeling cute enough for a selfie 😂 not long to go now until we become a family of 6. 💗 If you're pregnant too, and especially if you're a first time mum, I have a new article up on my blog just for you - 6 ways your skin changes during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a time of wonderful change and upheaval, and of course your skin expresses these changes too. Extra blood, and a lot more hormones – they all contribute to the pregnancy glow we hear so much about. Yet stretch marks are inevitable for most mums-to-be, along with discomfort and hyperpigmentation. What else can you expect? And what's the best way to help yourself? Head over to my blog for the full article. Link in bio. Now, do you have any tricks for keeping kids happy during the summer holidays with little to no energy? 😂 Any advice on becoming a mummy to four?
PERFUME OILS TO SOOTHE, CALM & DESTRESS 🌿 Ad. I PERFUME OILS TO SOOTHE, CALM & DESTRESS 🌿 Ad. I've recently been loving three precious oil blends from Pretty Special Beauty @prettyspecialbeauty. Each focuses on improving wellbeing by promoting restful sleep, balancing positive energy, and helping us to feel more grounded. Perfect for busy, overwhelmed, and stressed parents! 🥰 The brand's talented founder, Lisa, sent me her wonderful perfume oils to try, and today I’m really excited to share them with you. 💜 Beauty Sleep is described as helping to aid and promote a restful sleep as well as open the crown chakra, paving the way for a balanced spiritual life. I keep this perfume oil by the side of my bed to roll over my pulse points before going to sleep. The bottle looks like it contains cornflowers and the fragrance is delicate lavender, it is so soothing. 💓 Heart & Soul brings harmony, balance and support to the heart chakra, allowing positive energy to flow. It has a sweet floral scent and looks like it contains pink rose petals. It’s definitely a happy aroma. Looking at the bottle, it reminds me how to let love in. 💛 Serenity helps draw nervous energy away from the brain and down to the root chakra, helping us to feel more grounded, pragmatic and reassured. This perfume oil, containing yellow petals, sings to me the most. I use it when I’m feeling overwhelmed by the kids' noise. It’s really calming but joyous at the same time. I'm always consistently impressed with Lisa's aromatherapy and formulation skills. She creates the most fragrant and well-considered aromatherapy based skincare products. Give her a shout @prettyspecialbeauty. What are some of your favourite aromatherapy products?
WELEDA STRETCH MARK BODY BUTTER + BABY 4! 🌿 Hel WELEDA STRETCH MARK BODY BUTTER + BABY 4! 🌿 Hello again, my dear! Hold on to your hats, because it's time for a little announcement – I’m expecting our fourth child! Aside from the tiredness, I'm so excited to meet our new bundle of joy in the middle of August! Our family will be big and busy - for sure. Since our skin changes so much during pregnancy, creating a beautiful skincare routine is always a priority for me. So when I learned Weleda @weledauk had released a new Stretch Mark Body Butter, I simply had to try it! I’ve been using it every day since it arrived in the post about 6 weeks ago. And I have to say – I love it. Especially for pregnant mums, it “helps prevent and reduce the appearance of stretch marks”. As you would expect from Weleda, it’s certified natural, vegan – and the non-greasy and fast-absorbing formula promises to improve skin’s elasticity. Think centella asiatica, organic shea butter, rich cocoa butter, and precious oils. It's such a delight and I love the pregnancy massage routine included on the box. A true moment of bliss! Come and find out more about this body butter, over on my blog! Link in bio. What's your favourite body butter right now?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONAH 🌿 Every parent ever says t HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONAH 🌿 Every parent ever says this, but I can't believe my little boy is 7! If you've followed me for a while, you'll know that each year, I write to my children on their birthday as a special keepsake of their year. Jonah's birthday is a special time, as it's not only his birthday, it’s the anniversary on which we became parents for the first time. 💙💕 As he's transitioned from a little kid to a big kid, we’ve learned so much more about him, and who he is. Curious, studious, quiet, detailed – dare I say verging on nerdy? Sometimes daft, and yet totally loveable are just some of the ways I can describe him. Come and read the full letter, over on my blog! Link in bio.
POWDERED CLEANSERS 🌿 For #texturetuesday, a mas POWDERED CLEANSERS 🌿 For #texturetuesday, a mashup of two of my favourite powdered cleansers bubbling into action on contact with water. The refreshingly zingy @niniorganics Nini Organics Natura Detox Foam, and the sensationally spicy The Clean Dirt by @maylindstromskin May Lindstrom. And over on my blog today, link in bio, I'm talking about why powdered facial cleansers make such a good choice for busy mums. ✅ Combine cleansing with other benefits like brightening and exfoliating all in one step. ✅ Relief from sensitive skin during pregnancy or hormonal change, since there is no water in a powdered facial cleanser, and likely fewer or no preservatives. ✅ You can also use more or less water for a more thorough or more gentle cleanse, putting you in complete control. ✅ Powdered facial cleansers are fun. Who doesn’t love using their fingers to mix up bubbly potions? These sensory concoctions do more than cleanse and treat – they engulf the senses in sound, texture, and scent. There’s so much to love! Learn even more over on my blog. Have you tried a powdered facial cleanser? I'd love to hear your favourites!
