LoveLula March 2018 Beauty Box review

LoveLula March 2018 Beauty Box

My LoveLula March 2018 Beauty Box arrived in the middle of the month. We’ve been so poorly this last week, and I’m terribly behind on my blog. But I’m so excited to share this box with you!

The March box contains 6 natural beauty products, 3 of which are full size. The LoveLula March 2018 Beauty Box is worth £43, but costs just £13.95 as a subscriber.

Let’s take a look at what’s inside this month’s box.

Disclosure: I received this box to review by LoveLula, but my opinions are honest and my own.

Elsa’s Deodorant

Of all the products this month, I was most excited to try this one. I already have one in my stash and I’m going to write a full review of it, because it’s awesome!

Elsa's Deodorant

I received the Ocean fragrance, which contains peppermint, tea tree, and patchouli. The patchouli is detectable, but the peppermint fragrance dominates. It’s ideal for women or men.

I have to say that this is the most effective natural deodorant I’ve ever used. With most natural deodorants, the freshness after my shower doesn’t last all day. But with Elsa’s, it does. Amazing!

It did irritate my skin when I used it after shaving, but the pack does warn not to use on broken skin.

The deodorant claims not to leave stains, but it does leave white marks on my clothing. The marks rub off, though.

What I like about Elsa’s Deodorant is that it doesn’t stop my skin from sweating.

As you can see from the ingredients, this deodorant doesn’t contain bicarbonate of soda, which is great news for me since I usually react to it in deodorants.

Let’s have a look at how some of the ingredients can stave off the stink.

Elsa’s Deodorant in Ocean ingredients

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder, Ricinus Communis (Castor Bean) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Magnesium Oxide, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Himalayan Pink Salt, Kaolin Clay, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Citral.

Antibacterial oils

Coconut oil is a popular ingredient in natural deodorants. It’s antibacterial, so will slow the growth of stink-causing bacteria in the underarm.

Coconut oil

Castor bean oil is rich is ricinoleic acid, which prevents the growth of bacteria.

Absorbent ingredients

Kaolin clay and arrowroot powder absorb sweat but don’t prevent it from providing its essential skin cooling function.

Essential oils

Peppermint works as a natural deodoriser, while geranium is cleansing and antiseptic.

Rose geranium essential oil

Patchouli soothes inflammation, along with being antiseptic and astringent. Tea tree is well known for its antibacterial properties.

Laidbare Guess My Age Anti-Ageing Cream

This anti-wrinkle treatment is suited to mature skin. Since I’m headed that way, I was happy to find this in my box. It contains active prodejine, along with exotic passion flower oil. It aims to create a smoother, younger looking skin texture.

Laidbare Guess My Age Anti-Ageing Cream

I used this cream for over a week. I would rather it came in a pump dispenser, as I’m not a fan of dipping my fingers in a pot.

The cream has a nice texture, and smells like lime. It sinks in quickly and easily, so is really convenient.

Surprisingly, the cream appears to give an immediate tightening effect on my skin, which is impressive!

However, I had to stop using it because I suffered an outbreak of neck acne. I’m pretty sure it was down to potentially pore-clogging isopropyl myristate. It could’ve been hormonal, but it’s cleared up since I stopped using the cream.

I’m also not too sure about the use of citrus essential oils in a cream destined for the face, since citrus oils can be photosensitising. Perhaps the concentration isn’t high enough, so it’d be fine – but I’m just not sure.

Laidbare Guess My Age Anti-Ageing Cream ingredients

Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Glycerin (Coconut), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut), Glyceryl Stearate (Palm Kernel), Isopropyl Myristate (Palm Oil), Cetearyl Alcohol (Palm Kernel Oil), Cetearyl Glucoside (Sugar), Mannitol (Botanical), Cyclodextrin (Yeast), Disodium Succinate (Synthetic), Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol (Naturally Derived Preservative), Passiflora Incarnata (Passion) Flower Oil, Squalane (Olive Derived), Xanthan Gum (Naturally Derived Thickener), Citrus Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel Oil, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Laminaria Japonica (Japanese Seaweed) Extract, Potassium Sorbate (Naturally Derived Preservative), Sodium Benzoate (Naturally Derived Preservative), Citral (Essential Oils), Limonene (Essential Oils).

Glossworks Nail Polish in Come Clay With Me

I was so excited to see this in the box. It’s a beautiful high-coverage gel nail varnish in a pretty spring colour – so perfect!

Glossworks Nail Polish

Unfortunately it contains benzophenone-1, which I don’t use. I’m strict when it comes to ingredients because I’m breastfeeding and I won’t take any chances with ingredients passing into my milk.

FoM Hydra Bright Night Complex

This super-expensive night serum looks amazing. It brightens, hydrates, and helps with age spots and hyperpigmentation.

FoM Hydra Bright Night Complex

Unfortunately, it contains phenoxyethanol which is another ingredient I don’t use, since it can have adverse effects on children.

Sukin Purifying Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner

A lovely looking shampoo and conditioner set. The shampoo gently cleanses, while the conditioner adds volume and shine without creating static.

Sukin Shampoo and Conditioner

Again, both contain phenoxyethanol so I won’t use them. It’s a shame, because they have such lovely natural ingredients like aloe and horsetail. Note only the shampoo is available on LoveLula.
