Holiday favourites in natural skincare and beauty

In this post I’m sharing my holiday favourites in natural skincare and beauty. These are products I couldn’t live without because they work so well for me and my family when we’re on holiday. And the best bit is, they’re all super clean and natural!

Oh, holidays. We look forward to them all year, and they’re over in a flash. But what memories we take away! Happy children playing on the beach, meals together, and whiling the day away lounging in comfy hammocks, if we’re lucky!

I get so excited about what products to pack. Travelling nudges me into only taking what is absolutely necessary. It’s great to get to the heart of my daily essentials – and I’d love to share them with you.

So if you’re looking for effective natural sun protection, coconut-scented skincare, and glowing, tropical makeup, then read on!

First up, let’s take a look at the natural sun care I’ve picked.

Natural sun care

Green People Scent Free Sun Lotion SPF 30

We usually go away in May so the weather isn’t too hot, but we still have to be really careful not to burn, as we’re all very fair skinned. Green People make my favourite sun protection, so when I saw this pop up on Clean Green Beauty Swap and Sell at half price, I snapped it up.

Green People Scent Free Sun Lotion SPF 30

I don’t mind that it’s scent-free. The sun lotion has broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, is suitable for sensitive skin, and helps keep skin moisturised. It’s water repellent, but you need to reapply to be on the safe side. It contains soothing chamomile and marshmallow to pamper skin.

As with other titanium dioxide based sunscreens, it needs a bit of smoothing in, and will transfer white marks if there’s an excess left on the skin. Applying this twice a day, we remained sunburn free for the duration of our holiday!

Organii SPF 50 Sun Milk

This broad spectrum sun milk was specifically for Jonah, especially for use on his often-exposed areas like face and arms.

Organii SPF 50 Sun Milk

It works immediately, so is great for children who want to get outside straight away. The texture is definitely thinner than most, which makes it easier to apply, but you have to be careful not to let it run out of your palm!

The sun milk contains soothing mallow and calendula which I think is a really nice addition.

It’s quite greasy but it does sink in after a few minutes. As with other titanium dioxide creams, it leaves white marks if not rubbed in properly.

Kimberly Sayer Daily Moisturizing Cream SPF30

My husband and I really like this broad spectrum cream for everyday use on our face. We also use it on Jonah too, since it’s easier to apply than suncream.

Kimberly Sayer Daily Moisturizing Cream SPF30

It contains some really nice ingredients – anti-ageing borage oil and beech bud extract, oat beta glucan to protect against oxidative stress and reduce moisture loss, and nettle to promote cellular growth.

It has a beautiful lavender scent which is really nice in warm weather. Even though it’s designed for dry skin, I use it on my combination skin and have no breakouts. I actually don’t find it that rich, but it still hydrates well.

Natural skincare

Elsa’s Natural Deodorant Stick in Love

I’ve written about my love for this super-effective natural deodorant before. It was the ultimate test to try it in a hot country.

Elsa's Natural Deodorant Stick in Love

On holiday I need to shave more frequently since my underarms are on show more. I can’t use Elsa’s the day I shave, since using it on broken skin causes irritation. Luckily for me, my protection from Elsa’s is that good, I can go a day without using it and still be protected from odour. This deodorant really is a win!

Lavera Exotic Coconut and Vanilla Body Lotion

Oh my goodness, this body lotion is like a dream.

Lavera Exotic Coconut and Vanilla Body Lotion

The most amazing thing about it is the scent. I used to love coconut scented sun protection, but there’s no way I’m exposing myself to the chemicals in those popular brands.

This body lotion more than makes up for it. The long-lasting scent is totally coconut, and will take you right back to your holiday once you get back.

It’s also a really good summer body lotion, as it’s light but moisturises well.

Green People Gentle Cleanse and Makeup Remover

I’ve had this one in my travel bag for a couple of years now. It’s definitely my favourite cleanser. It removes makeup so well and never irritates my skin. I also feel like it moisturises my skin, too.

Green People Gentle Cleanse and Makeup Remover

I emptied it just after we got back from holiday, and I’ll be sad to see it go. It contains soothing and healing aloe vera, calendula, shea butter, squalane, jojoba, and rose geranium.

Green People Foaming Face Wash

Together with Gentle Cleanse and Makeup Remover, Green People Foaming Face Wash is often a regular part of my double cleanse.

Green People Foaming Face Wash

This gentle foaming wash is so refreshing. It helps to contain my hormonal breakouts with green tea, larch, clary sage, witch hazel, bergamot, and rose geranium.

Travel size hair care

Tabitha James Kraan Hair Cleanser in Amber Rose Travel Size

I’ve been trying samples of these, and since they’re quite expensive I thought I’d go for the travel size next, which also worked out well for our holiday.

Tabitha James Kraan Hair Cleanser in Amber Rose Travel Size

I’m still testing this shampoo, but so far it’s kept my hair soft and manageable. I love that it cares for delicate scalps, as I suffer from psoriasis. I use a small amount for a first wash, then repeat.

The shampoo contains some lovely ingredients such as aloe vera, oat milk, argan oil, rose, patchouli, and ylang ylang. Read my full review of Tabitha James Kraan cleanser and conditioner.

Tabitha James Kraan 4 in 1 Conditioner in Amber Rose Travel Size

This is a really gorgeous conditioner and I love how it can be used as a styling product as well, which saves me packing extra product.

Tabitha James Kraan 4 in 1 Conditioner in Amber Rose Travel Size

My hair has tonnes of volume after using this conditioner, and it leaves a lovely warm scent. I feel like it moisturises well without weighing my fine hair down.

The conditioner contains restoring oats, rosehip, argan, and coconut oil, along with essential oils of rose, patchouli, neroli, chamomile, and ylang ylang.

Natural beauty products

RMS Beauty lip2cheek in Paradise

I’d heard great things about this multi-tasking product in the LoveLula Natural Beauty group.

RMS Beauty lip2cheek in Paradise

It works as both a blusher and a lip stain, but I prefer to use it as a blusher and find it a little drying on my lips. I can use a small amount to create a subtle blush, or more for a bolder evening look.

The colour is fantastic for holidays as it’s so tropical and bright.

Lavera Soft Glowing Highlighter in Shining Pearl

I’m new to highlighters, but I find this very easy to use and subtle.

Lavera Soft Glowing Highlighter in Shining Pearl

It adds a nice sheen in areas you want to bring attention to such as cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and the inner corners of the eye.

Weleda Beauty Balm in Bronze

I used my sample as a blusher while we were on holiday. It also makes a fantastic bronzer for fairer skin.

Weleda Beauty Balm in Bronze

My mum, who is really dark skinned, used hers as a traditional tinted day cream and loved it, since it’s not too heavy.

Travel essentials

Incognito Anti-Mosquito Spray

I’ve never been massively attacked by mosquitos whilst on holiday, in fact I think I’ve been bitten worse in the UK! However I always take some natural repellent away with us just in case.

Incognito Anti-Mosquito Spray

This spray uses essential oils to repel insects. It is 100% natural, but I recommend patch testing to ensure you’re not sensitive to the ingredients, which include eucalyptus, camphor, rose geranium, and menthol.

Bentley Organic Hand Sanitizer

This is a staple in our nappy bag and it’s always good to have on hand where there’s no water available, or for peace of mind.

Bentley Organic Hand Sanitizer

It contains aloe vera along with essential oils of grapefruit and bergamot. From what I can gather, it sanitises using potassium sorbate, which can be irritating to some.
