How are we nearly into May already? Another month of keeping track of the natural beauty and health products we use each month. I hope you enjoy reading my April 2018 skincare & beauty empties. April has been so exciting for me and my blog! I ran my first giveaway, for fertility supplements, and I wrote my first proper makeup review where I looked at healthier alternatives to MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick. This month has been all about trying new products, especially cleansers, shampoos, and conditioners. It irks me I’ve never been able to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner, so I’ve been making a big effort to try new products. Read on to find out how I got on. It’s a long one, but I hope you find it helpful. Disclosure: I was gifted The Rose Tree Intensive Balm by The Rose Tree, and Storksak Baby Wash & Shampoo…
Another month has passed, and I’m really enjoying keeping track of the natural beauty and healthcare products our family uses each month. I hope you enjoy reading my March 2018 skincare empties. Boy has this month been tough! First, my external hard drive blew up which contained all my precious photos, and I stupidly hadn’t backed up for 2 years. All Jonah’s baby photos from my DSLR would’ve been lost. Luckily, it had a tiny bit of life in it, so we were able to copy the files onto a new drive. What a relief! I’ve learned my lesson and am now taking weekly backups. Secondly, Jonah picked up a stomach bug and was properly sick for the first time. We really weren’t prepared for it. Then we caught it too, so we were all poorly and feeling very sorry for ourselves. Now we’re looking forward to a healthy April…
Goodness, how has a whole month passed since my last skincare empties post? What with Valentine’s Day just gone, and Mother’s Day fast approaching, it’s been a very busy month for me and my blog. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my February 2018 skincare empties! I’ve gone through fewer products this month than last month. I’ve been focusing on using Jonah’s bath products in my shower, since his body wash tubes have been open since January last year, and aren’t smelling as perfect as they should. I also have some lovely new natural toddler sleep products to try for Jonah, so please do subscribe to my blog or follow me to keep up to date. So, let’s go through my February 2018 skincare empties. Full size natural skincare products Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo I do like Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo, and I appreciate what is good about it. As well as…
It’s a thing amongst beauty bloggers to share their empties each month. I’m always incredibly curious to learn what gorgeous natural skincare and beauty products other beauty bloggers have used up. So I thought I’d hop on the bandwagon by sharing my own January 2018 skincare empties! I appear to have consumed a lot of skincare in January. However, some of these products have been open since 2013 (I don’t adhere to use by dates). In January I made a conscious effort to use up old products, for several reasons. First, I’ve been sent new and lovely skincare products to test this month, and need to make room. Second, I’m now a LoveLula Accredited Blogger with an allowance each month. I have a burning desire to break out of my comfort zone to try new things! Third, I’ve been taking better care of myself and actually using the products in…
Ah, New Year’s Eve. It’s that time of year where people around the world take stock of the year that has been, and look towards the coming year with fresh hopes and dreams. It’s the same for me – I’ve been blogging almost a year now, and I’d love to share with you the best of Natural Beauty with Baby 2017. This post has been a lot of fun to write! It’s almost like an awards ceremony. So, let’s take a look at my best of! Blogger game-changer post LoveLula December 2017 Beauty Box review This post marked a huge turning point for my blog. It was a super-proud moment for me being accepted onto the LoveLula Accredited Blogger Programme. I really enjoyed my first LoveLula Natural Beauty Box. It’s also been a real blast talking with the LoveLulies in the LoveLula Natural Beauty Facebook group. In this group, we…
Since writing this post, Mia & Dom have closed their skincare brand. We don’t use lots of skincare products on Jonah, but one thing we do seem to get through is bath product. I will be honest – we don’t bathe Jonah every day unless he absolutely needs it. I’m a big believer in letting him get mucky to build up his microbiome. And, taking baths too often can dehydrate delicate skin. Jonah does love a bath though, so I thought we’d try this gorgeous Mia & Dom Organic Baby Bath Oil. This is the first time I’ve tried Mia & Dom, so let me introduce them: Mia & Dom is a lovely British brand making organic handmade skin care products for mothers and babies. The range was created by a mama whose son suffers with eczema – the Dom of Mia & Dom. Disclosure: I chose this product using credits…
If you’re pregnant or a new mum wondering what you might need on your breastfeeding journey, this post is for you. Natural breastfeeding products – the breastfeeding essentials you’ll need for the first six months and beyond. These are my all-time favourite breastfeeding products, which have been invaluable to me. I’ve breastfed all four of my littles from birth until the age of 2, so I’ve tried a lot of breastfeeding products. Here are the products I return to again and again – from the best nipple balms, teas and support for mum, but also the best breast pumps, bottles for breastfeeding babies, and nursing pillows. My breastfeeding back story When I first wrote this post, I’d been breastfeeding Jonah for almost 17 months. We struggled at the start with painful latch, and we overcame it together. My mum breastfed me for a few weeks so had a little experience…
This post will help you choose the best natural beauty Christmas gifts for yourself or your loved ones. I would absolutely love to receive any of these fantastic natural beauty gifts! That’s because on Christmas morning, you can find me under the Christmas tree, smelling the outside of presents trying to find “the smellies” gift. I eagerly open it, only to be disappointed. It’s a beauty product I definitely wouldn’t use because it contains unhealthy ingredients. Sigh. It’s disheartening isn’t it? As happy as I am to receive a lovely gift, I feel so strongly about natural skincare I just can’t go back to using mainstream toiletries from big brands. I donate unwanted Christmas gifts to my favourite charity, as there will always be someone who does use these products and donating them ensures they don’t get wasted. Without further ado, let’s dive straight into my pick of natural beauty…
Kids and adults alike love getting dressed up for Halloween – and spooky makeup and face paint are part of the magic. But what if that Halloween makeup contains ingredients you’d rather not use? Yep, heavy metals, talc, and endocrine disrupting parabens are not what I want to paint on my child’s skin! What we need is natural Halloween makeup we can use for babies and toddlers! “You’ve got to be extra careful with what goes on a child’s sensitive skin. Safe, natural options make it easier to enjoy the fun without worrying about harmful effects.” says Sara Millecam of Beautiful Brows and Lashes. It’s so fun and easy to make your own natural face paints that you can use at Halloween and other times of the year. And once you have your natural Halloween makeup sorted – a spooky Halloween outfit, dramatic hair styling, face makeup, and fake blood…
In this post I’m reviewing the fantastic BeeMom Silicone Breast Pump. I’ve been breastfeeding Jonah for 15 months now. I never imagined we would get this far, as we did struggle at the start. I’m passionate about breastfeeding, and so grateful to the women who helped me learn to breastfeed in hospital – and the lactation consultant who supported me through difficult times. Jonah lost a lot of weight in the weeks following his birth, so we (probably needlessly) supplemented with formula. When his weight gain stabilised, we gradually decreased his formula intake and I pumped to increase my milk supply. We used the Medela Swing Electric Breast Pump. Now we find breastfeeding so easy, and it forges such a strong bond between us – we both love it. Jonah breastfeeds about three times during the day, and breastfeeds to sleep. If he’s poorly, he breastfeeds more frequently for comfort.…
