Dear Cara Just like that, my baby girl is turning 2! I wrote your birth story, your 1st birthday letter, and here I am writing again as you are about to turn 2 years old. It’s my hope that you will treasure these letters when you are older. I certainly will, since it’s so easy to forget the little day to day things that bring a smile. It’s strange to think that a quarter of your life has been spent living with the threat of coronavirus looming over us, but we try to keep life as normal as we can and not scare you with talk of germs. It makes me so sad to keep you away from other children, but it would be worse to see you with coronavirus, or pass it on to your grandma. Your generation will be the best hand washers, users of sanitisers, and will…
Do you battle to keep your kids clean? Although I love my kids to get mucky (not as much as they like to get mucky, I might add), whether it’s outdoors in the mud or being tactile with food (baby led weaning, anyone?) we do appreciate a good clean up afterwards. So I was pleased to hear from kids’ bath-time brand Scrubbingtons, who wondered if I’d like to try their Hand & Face Foam. This post is a paid partnership with Scrubbingtons. My views are honest and my own. Turn your bath dodgers and shower swervers into grime fighters with our foam-tastic washing products for real kids. Scrubbingtons products contain naturally-derived ingredients, are suitable for sensitive skin, vegan, and cruelty free. Mums Karen and Emma created the brand after spotting a huge gap in the market between baby skincare and adult skincare. Especially for kids who like to get mucky!…
Welcome back, beauty lovers! Today I’d like to introduce a very lovely sun protection brand and their gorgeous kids sunscreen. Hello, Suntribe Kids Mineral Sunscreen! This post is a paid partnership with Suntribe. My views are honest and my own. I can’t believe this clean sunscreen brand flew under my radar for so long before I met one of their lovely co-founders, Julia. Suntribe is all about sun care with no worries, which feels especially important when you have little ones. I spend way too much time worrying about my kids’ sunscreen, whether or not I’ve applied enough, in the right places, and whether or not I need to reapply it! Mums and dads, are you with me? So I really don’t want the additional worry of our sunscreen containing controversial ingredients or polluting the environment. Born from the love of nature, Suntribe was founded in Sweden by outdoor lovers,…
Hi beauty lovers! Have you heard of Plastic Free July? Plastic Free July is a movement to reduce the amount of plastic waste we produce. The challenge is to refuse single use plastics in July. As a family, we are mindful of the impact of our plastic waste and have been reducing single use plastics for some time. But there’s still huge room for improvement. The most offending single use plastics we still use as a family are without a doubt wet wipes and disposable nappies. I know how harmful they are for the environment, but sometimes getting through life with little kids seems more important. Can you relate? How does this help you? Maybe you’re in the same position as me. We can’t promise a plastic free July, but we can make a start implementing some changes for life. This is what it’s all about! …The truth is that…
To my dear Jonah, Happy birthday, my little son. You’re not so little anymore, because now you are 4! I hope that one day you can enjoy reading our letters to you – it’s funny how the small things slip from our memories. We want to treasure it all. You have come so far in just a year, and we’ve learned more about you than any other year. Your personality and quirks are really showing, our wonderfully different Jonah! Because of the coronavirus epidemic, we spend our days in a little bubble at home – we play, go for long walks, have slow lunches, and watch too much telly. And we won’t be spending your fourth birthday as we imagined we would – a big party with a bouncy castle and all of your nursery friends. Instead we’re having a humble get together at your grandma Heather’s house, with just…
Do you love neroli skin care products? Me too! Neroli is uplifting, romantic and calming. Perfect for post lockdown emotional support. And so many natural beauty bloggers love neroli skin care too! One of my favourite memories as a young girl was sitting under my mum’s mock orange tree in the garden, listening to the bees buzzing around the fragrant blooms. When mock orange (aka “Philadelphus Virginalis”) is about to blossom, my thoughts turn to neroli (aka Bitter Orange, “Citrus Aurantium”). My favourite way to enjoy the benefits of neroli is in skin care. My favourite place to shop them? LoveLula of course! So this post is all about neroli – what it is, neroli skin care benefits, and my roundup of blogger neroli skin care favourites. What is neroli in skincare? Neroli in beauty care is created by adding neroli essential oil or hydrosol to skin and hair care…
Welcome back, my dear friend! Today I’m setting skincare aside to talk about the latest release from one of my favourite parenting authors. Introducing The Starting School Book by Sarah Ockwell-Smith! As new and clueless parents who gravitated towards natural birth, breastfeeding, bed sharing, and attachment parenting, Sarah Ockwell-Smith books and Gentle Parenting (GP) appealed to my style of parenting right away. Her books are a goldmine of parenting advice. She has four children herself, a degree in psychology, and has helped countless parents through her work as an antenatal teacher and doula, her books and online channels. A little of our backstory. My son, Jonah, turns 4 in June and was due to start at primary school in September. However, we have delayed his school start till September 2021, for several different reasons. The first of these is a speech and language delay his health visitor reported at his…
Hi, it’s nice to see you here! Today, I’m talking about female fertility and using a home fertility test kit. Some months back I was approached by LetsGetChecked who wondered if I’d like to try one of their at home health tests. LetsGetChecked have been offering personal health tests in the UK since 2016. They use the world’s best accredited labs and tests range from sexual health, wellness, vitamin status, lyme disease, and more. Go straight to my discount code for LetsGetChecked! Since most of my readers are women planning or parenting little ones, I was beyond interested to try a home fertility test kit. Our family is complete and I just turned 40, but I still have fertility curiosity, like am I still fertile even though I’m breastfeeding? Am I approaching menopause soon? How quickly is my fertility declining? When can I expect to see menopausal symptoms? I admit,…
I was really pleased to be introduced to Mill Creek Botanicals by online health and beauty store Omninatural. Founded in California in 1975, Mill Creek Botanicals offer natural beauty products with potent ingredients and outstanding results. Our customers know that they will never find parabens, sulfates, phthalates, artificial colors, synthetic fragrances or any other questionable ingredients when they use Mill Creek. Over 40 years and millions of happy customers we are still defining natural beauty care with style The brand stock some really interesting shampoos and conditioners. Amongst them is their Biotene H-24 range, promising thicker and fuller hair naturally. What really caught my attention about this line is the ingredients, which include biotin and peptides to promote hair growth. I’m excited about this range because thicker, fuller hair are definite hair goals for me. My hair is naturally fine, but it’s also thinned quite a bit since my twenties.…
As an eczema and psoriasis sufferer, Balmonds skincare has been on my radar for some time. When I learned they were looking for bloggers with troubled skin to try their range, I naturally jumped at the chance. Balmonds began with a mother so desperate to find an effective, non-steroidal moisturiser for her daughter’s painful skin that she ended up making one herself. I’ve suffered with psoriasis since about 6 years old. My skin has always had a patch of it somewhere. Usually it affects my scalp, hairline, and elbows, but little dots flare up all over when I’m stressed. Since becoming a parent, I developed dyshidrotic eczema on my hands. It seems to have been triggered by the frequency of washing up and laundry, but it may have been hormonal. Rubber gloves also trigger it. It’s hard to pin down a cause. But I end up with tiny incredibly itchy…
