Welcome back, dear friend! Today I’m so excited to share my children’s latest love. It’s the Petite Amélie Kids Teepee & Baby Play Mat! Back in June last year, we tried out the Petite Amélie Dolls House. It’s still one of my kids’ favourite toys – and mine, too. So naturally, I was delighted to hear from the brand again. There are so many beautifully crafted furniture, toy, and bedroom items to choose from in the Petite Amélie store. I knew right away that my middle daughter Cara would love their childrens teepee more than anything else. At 3 years old, she loves to hide and to take herself away for quiet moments in her new bedroom. The teepee makes the most perfect getaway! Baby Lydia, too, enjoys the soft baby play mat inside and outside of the teepee. The baby play mat makes the perfect companion to the teepee…

To my dear Jonah, Happy birthday to you, my eldest son. Many people would say that you are quiet and sensitive – and that’s certainly true. But you also have a silly and funny side that cracks me up. You’re quite unique, a little bit alternative. I love that! You definitely stand out amongst your friends. At 6 years old, you are so inquisitive. You want the answers to everything and you ask lots of questions about the world around us. It’s so humbling and rekindles my interest in the world, too. I definitely learn something new! Every year, around the time of your birthday, I write a letter to you. I talk all about you at 6 years old – your loves, likes, and what you spend your time doing. Of course, I share the proud mummy milestones too. The day you were born was one of the most…

You’re probably reading this article because your kids like Huggy Wuggy. The plush blue monster is the latest craze amongst young kids. But you might be asking – why is Huggy Wuggy so popular? And what do parents need to know? But first, who – or what, is Huggy Wuggy? Huggy Wuggy is the antagonist in Chapter 1 of the horror video game Poppy Playtime, designed by MOB games. Poppy Playtime is available on Windows PCs, so kids install it on their home computer. A bit about the game from games download platform Steam: You must stay alive in this horror/puzzle adventure. Try to survive the vengeful toys waiting for you in the abandoned toy factory. Explore the mysterious facility… and don’t get caught. Starting off as a blue plush cuddly toy who just wants to hug, Huggy Wuggy first appears to children as a static character stood still on…

Welcome back my friend. Cara is 3, and I hope you enjoy my letter to her on her third birthday. Dear Cara My sweet Little Miss Cara, how has it been only 3 years since you came into our lives? It’s gone by in a flash! You are strong, feisty, determined – you love strongly and give your absolute all to everything that you try. In the last year, we’ve seen your personality grow and your likes and dislikes become very clear. Of our 3 children, you’re definitely the strongest and most vocal! Each year I write to you with a recap of your year – the big things, and the little things too. I hope you’ll look back on my letters and smile. Maybe you’ll remember some of the things I write about now you are almost 3? Cara the brave As an introvert mum, sometimes your behaviour challenges…

Welcome back, my friend! I’ve finally found time to write Lydia Evelyn’s birth story! She’s such a treasure, our whole family is in love with her! I wrote Jonah’s birth story and Cara’s birth story too – I don’t want to forget the amazing and life changing experience of giving birth. Each of my three children’s births was so special and amazing in different ways. I truly hope you enjoy reading Lydia’s birth story! Lydia Evelyn’s birth story begins a week before her birth At 38+5 weeks pregnant, I’d been feeling her move a little less than usual. Concerned, I called the maternity day unit at our local hospital to assess her movements and heartbeat. The hospital took us in and monitored Lydia. Reassuringly, she went through the monitoring just fine. Her CTG and growth scan were both perfect, and comfortingly her movements returned to normal over the several hours…

Happy 5th birthday Jonah! All parents say something similar when their child hits another birthday, but I can’t believe you’re turning 5 years old. Where did time go? This time of year is so special to me. The light of the longest days reminds me of that amazing time in my life around the time you were born. Every year I write to you on your birthday. I talk about the emotions, but also about the little things that are so easy to forget with the passage of time. I hope one day you’ll look back on my letters and smile! I’ll level with you – being the eldest child can be hard. I’m the eldest too, so I really know it. I feel like I didn’t fully experience part of your childhood while caught up in Cara’s newborn years, and the mum guilt was real. But now that Cara…

Hello again, my dear friend! Today I have a very special share for the parents and children amongst us! It’s this beautiful Petite Amélie Wooden Dolls House! I was so pleased to hear from the brand when they invited me to try something from their range of nursery, children’s bedroom, and wooden toy items. The timelessly clean and beautiful designs along with attention to detail in craftsmanship are simply amazing – so much so, we had a hard time choosing an item for my children – Jonah, 4, and Cara, 2! However, since we are all sorted for furniture, the children’s wooden toys particularly appealed to us. And we were all stunned when we saw the Petite Amélie Wooden Dolls House. Thanks to its neutral design, it instantly appealed to both Jonah and Cara. Indeed, a doll’s house has a huge universal appeal, a timeless classic toy for all children.…

Is your toddler or child scared of vacuum cleaners? My son, now 4, was absolutely terrified of vacuum cleaners for a couple of years. This fear of such an innocuous household item can seem irrational to adults, but it’s actually very common! Most children will outgrow their fear of vacuum cleaners, but there’s a lot you can do along the way to help them overcome their fears. Small children are not very rational, so telling them to stop being afraid isn’t going to help them. So before you swear off cleaning for the next few years, have a read of my post. I share tips on how to gently help your child and hopefully use your vacuum cleaner without scaring your little one. How Jonah’s fear began I remember the first time we realised Jonah was scared of vacuum cleaners. He was about 6 months old and his daddy was…

Today I’m sharing the fun we’re having with Chalkola Chalk Markers! And we’re giving away a set of 16 Chalkola Chalk Markers, so if you’d like to enter, just hop straight to the giveaway. I was really happy to hear from Chalkola when they asked if we’d like to try their chalk markers. Although our kids are quite young, we enjoy drawing, painting, and crafts. And when I researched the markers I found that Chalkola markers are child safe, water based, and non-toxic. It’s good news for parents that the chalk dries quickly and washes easily out of clothes! We first tried our markers on a chalkboard, which we keep for scribbling quick messages and drawing pictures to share with the children. It’s a great medium because it’s lightweight and easy to work with. I can just wipe it with a wet cloth to start a new picture. The markers…

Dear Cara Just like that, my baby girl is turning 2! I wrote your birth story, your 1st birthday letter, and here I am writing again as you are about to turn 2 years old. It’s my hope that you will treasure these letters when you are older. I certainly will, since it’s so easy to forget the little day to day things that bring a smile. It’s strange to think that a quarter of your life has been spent living with the threat of coronavirus looming over us, but we try to keep life as normal as we can and not scare you with talk of germs. It makes me so sad to keep you away from other children, but it would be worse to see you with coronavirus, or pass it on to your grandma. Your generation will be the best hand washers, users of sanitisers, and will…
