It’s always exciting when Weleda releases a new product, but I was even more excited than usual to learn about these new additions to the iconic Skin Food range.

Skin Food is often our first introduction to this wonderful natural skin care brand. The cult multi-tasking beauty balm is a legend amongst beauty editors, bloggers, and makeup artists, and is one of Weleda’s bestselling products.

Over the years we’ve seen a few new additions to the line, such as Skin Food Light, to cater for different skin types and needs. You can read my review of Skin Food and other Weleda products here.

Now, Weleda has added a few new items to their Skin Food range – and there are some brand new face care and body care items to try.

But why would busy mums want to use Weleda Skin Food products? Well, they allow us to take care of our skin in the most natural and holistic way. I love the focus on wellbeing, connecting humans with nature and drawing the best out of both. It’s always been at Weleda’s core and it’s why they’re one of my favourite beauty brands.

In this post, I try two of the new Skin Food products – Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm, and Skin Food Ultra Light Dry Oil. There’s also a Day Cream and a Night Cream, so do look them up if you get chance.

So let’s dive in!

New-in Weleda Skin Food range

Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm

First, let’s take a look at the new Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm. Weleda claim that this cleansing balm nourishes the skin while melting away make-up with its oil-to-milk formula, for clean and soft skin.

Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm

This silky balm is fast becoming one of my favourite ways to double cleanse, and has such a clever emulsifying balm-to-milk formula. But first, let me say how I love that the balm comes in the same familiar metal tube as Weleda Skin Food. It’s a definite bonus over plastic packaging if the formula and usage allows for it!

The oil-based formula contains ingredients familiar to Skin Food, such as organic sunflower oil and botanical extracts of viola tricolor, organic calendula, and chamomile.

Squeezing the fragrant balm from the tube, I warm a small amount between my palms then take a long deep breath in to inhale the gorgeous fragrance. It smells a lot like Skin Food – citrus but with warm and vanilla notes too.

The balm melts down only a little and becomes easier to smooth over the skin, although there is a little drag due to the thickness of the balm. I massage the balm in and the fragrance becomes even more intensified. The cleansing balm smells so good, and is a real tonic at the end of a busy and tiring day – especially in the heat.

Now this is where the magic happens – removing the balm along with all the day’s grime, makeup, and SPF. A splash of water transforms the balm into an easy to remove milk that I whisk away with a warm facecloth or muslin cloth. You could also just splash with water to remove the balm. My skin is left clean, soft, and well cared for.

The bottom line

I absolutely love how hardworking this balm is, especially when it comes to removing even stubborn eye makeup. It really is a workhorse, all the while nourishing and soothing the skin. It’s such a feel-good product and I recommend it to anyone looking for their next makeup remover and cleansing balm.

Weleda Skin Food Ultra Light Dry Oil

Next up, the Weleda Skin Food Ultra Light Dry Oil. This product takes the form of a bi-phase oil in a plastic spray bottle. According to Weleda, the lightweight spray brings intensive moisture and nourishment and leaves us with soft, glowing skin.

Weleda Skin Food Ultra Light Dry Oil

The multi-use body and face oil is perfect to take on your holiday due to its light weight (both the bottle, and the oil), and the fact you can use it on both your body and face. I also think this oil would be fantastic during pregnancy since the spray applicator makes it easy to apply. The oil is recommended for normal to dry skin but I think anybody could use it.

The base of this formula is sunflower seed oil, but there’s also caprylic/capric triglyceride, a lightweight oil derived from coconuts. You’ll definitely appreciate and enjoy its botanical ingredients of pansy, organic calendula, organic rosemary, and organic chamomile too.

To use the product, I simply shake it to mix, then spray all over my body as needed. To apply it to my face or harder to reach places, I spray the oil onto my hands and smooth it on. It has a fantastic dry feel without any greasiness. Perfect for mornings when there’s less time to get ready!

The fragrance is very similar to Skin Food – so sunny and happy, and definitely a summer time scent. The oil sinks in beautifully and my skin is left soft, moisturised and comfortable throughout the day.

I’d definitely recommend this oil to all Skin Food lovers and those who prefer a lighter body oil, and even those new to face oils.
