We got back off holiday and I found my LoveLula May 2018 Beauty Box had been delivered to a neighbour. Since boarding the plane home I was looking forward to opening it!
My May box contains 5 natural skincare and beauty products, 4 of which are full size. The LoveLula May 2018 Beauty Box is worth over £46, but costs just £13.95 as a subscriber.
Let’s take a look at what’s inside this month’s box.
Disclosure: I received the LoveLula May 2018 Beauty Box to review by LoveLula, but my opinions are honest and my own.
Alteya Organics Bulgarian Rose Water
I use rose water everyday, so I was really pleased to find this beautiful rose water in my LoveLula box. This is my first time using an Alteya product – the brand creates some amazing botanical products.
LoveLula stock several different types of Alteya rose water, including a gorgeous white rose water, which I’d love to try.
I have to say, this is one of the best-scented rose waters I’ve used.
The only ingredient is 100% pure organic steam-distilled rosa damascena floral water.
I love that this rose water can be used to flavour food and drink, as well. It’s USDA certified organic.
As for the benefits of rose water – it’s anti-inflammatory, so can help treat acne, sunburn, and other skin conditions. It’s also anti-aging and moisturising.
And the emotional benefits – just breathing in the smell is incredibly beneficial, since rose is said to dispel anger and bring about a sense of calm.

Lyonsleaf Calendula and Marshmallow Balm
I use balm daily on dry areas, so this makes a great addition to my box. This is my first time using Lyonsleaf, although I’ve heard good things about them.
Just look at the colour of this wonderful balm! You can really see the calendula flower colouring in it.
The healing and moisturising properties of calendula and marshmallow really make this balm.
The balm, like most balms, treats rough areas of skin anywhere on the body. Because it doesn’t block pores, it’s suitable for facial use.
I love how it’s suitable for the whole family, including babies. It can be used as a nipple balm (which I fully intend to try should the need arise!) and doesn’t need to be washed off before your baby’s next feed.
It’s great for use in pregnancy to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
Lyonsleaf Calendula and Marshmallow Balm has a reassuringly short ingredients list which is full of lovely things like babassu oil, beeswax, avocado oil, borage oil, rosehip, calendula, and marshmallow.

PHB Anti-Aging Eye Gel
Perfect timing, LoveLula! My PHB Brightening Eye Gel from the January LoveLula box had just run out!
This eye gel contains argan oil, seaweed, rock rose, and lavender, which may reduce the signs of ageing, relax muscles around the eye area, and deliver moisturisation to the delicate skin around the eye. PHB also claim that the eye gel can help with the production of collagen and elastin to keep skin looking firm – I do hope so!
I love how light and fresh this eye gel makes my eyes feel, especially in this heat. I haven’t noticed any huge benefits from it yet, but I do think these will appear given further use.

Bellapierre Shimmer Powder in Lava
I mistakenly thought this product was just an eyeshadow when I opened the box – incorrect! This shimmer powder is not just an eyeshadow – it has an absolute multitude of uses! It’d be excellent to take on holiday to save space and weight.
You can use it as:
- Eyeliner, by simply applying with a fine brush
- Cream eyeshadow, by applying with a damp applicator
- Blush
- Bronzer, by mixing it with lotion
- Lip colour, with a clear lipgloss or lipstick base
- Nail polish, using clear nail polish and dipping the brush into the powder
- Tinted mascara – wow!
I’ll get round to trying all these eventually, but I use it as an eyeshadow for now – and find it to be long lasting and crease free.
There are also 6 other natural looking shades to choose from including Earth, a lovely warm burnt coral shade which I have my eye on!

Botanico Vida Omega Oil
I use facial oil daily, so I loved receiving this sample. This is my first time using Botanico Vida, and the oil is new to LoveLula.
With bioactive sacha inchi, the multipurpose oil is designed to nourish dry or irritated skin, help the appearance of stretch marks and scars, manage ageing skin, and help with pregnancy related skin care.
Sacha inchi comes from a tree native to the area surrounding the Amazon River. It’s a superfood and skin care oil which is very rich in omega acids.
In independent clinical trials using Botanico Vida Omega Oil, 92% of users reported more hydrated skin, and an improvement in skin elasticity by 45% – although how they measure this, I don’t know!
I tried it on both my face and body. It’s light, sinks in easily, and has a lovely lemon scent. I do think it softened my fine lines a little.
I’d love to try this again, so I may make a purchase in the future.
