In this post I’m sharing my review of the super-luxurious Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Rahua Voluminous Conditioner. You should definitely read this post if you’re considering investing in this expensive duo.

Advert: this post contains references to products I’ve chosen with my credits as a LoveLula Accredited Blogger. My views are honest and my own.

I first came across Rahua because my blogger friends posted reviews about their experiences with the products. Excited by the buzz, I bagged myself a sample. Intrigued by the brand, I then invested in Rahua’s fabulous natural hairspray.

My hair is decidedly normal, but it’s fine and somewhat thinning. For the past 2 months, I’ve experienced some pretty severe postpartum hair loss. And due to stress my psoriasis has flared again, leaving my scalp irritated and dry. It’s a tricky situation, though, as overly moisturising formulations tend to leave me with greasy roots. I don’t like to wash my hair every day (lazy mama), so that’s always a consideration when choosing a shampoo and conditioner.

What I really wanted was an amazing natural shampoo and conditioner to treat my hair and help me to feel good about it again. My thoughts instantly went to Rahua!

Who and what is Rahua?

Pronounced “ra-wa”, Rahua is a high-end certified organic natural hair and skincare brand that focuses on a very special rainforest ingredient. The ingredient is rahua nut oil, which interestingly comes from the same botanical family as frankincense.

Rahua oil not only improves the health of hair with its high omega-9 content, but it also has a mood-calming effect. According to Rahua, its oil molecules are extremely fine. This increases its penetrative ability, to deeply moisturise and strengthen hair.

As you would expect, the entire range is free from sulfates, harsh chemicals, and preservatives. It’s also vegan.

The real force behind Rahua are the women of the Quechua-Shuar tribes who for centuries have travelled deep into the Amazon rainforest to prepare a highly potent, restorative oil they call rahua, believing it to be the secret to their thick, flowing, lustrous hair.

Reassuringly, rahua oil is sourced and processed by women and men of Amazon nations using traditional methods. I love that a portion of every purchase is donated to help tribes learn how to protect their jungles and rivers from deforestation and contamination.

Now we’ve seen what this unique brand has to offer, let’s take a look at the shampoo and conditioner.

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo & Conditioner

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo

The product claims for the shampoo are that it volumises hair, adding bounce and shine – without drying like many volumising lines can.

The ingredients are perfect – lemongrass and green tea to create body and curb excessive oiliness, rahua oil to heal, moisturise, and strengthen hair, and jojoba to moisturise.

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo

The packaging is exceedingly beautiful, it’s a plastic bottle with gorgeous rose gold flip cap. The olive coloured shampoo is satisfyingly thicker and gloopier than most natural shampoos. The fragrance is refreshingly lemongrass and eucalyptus – it’s quite delicately fragranced.

The shampoo lathers really nicely and I don’t normally need to repeat my wash to get a clean feeling. My experience is that my hair is so very shiny after using this shampoo. I did notice a volume lift.

Are there any downsides? My second day hair looks greasier at the fringe than with my previous shampoo, Tabitha James Kraan Hair Cleanser.

It does really feel like a high end shampoo. My hair and scalp are very happy with it, and on wash days it definitely brightens my morning.

Rahua Voluminous Conditioner

Rahua Voluminous Conditioner contains many of the same beneficial ingredients as the shampoo. It uses natural lightweight moisturisers to condition, so it doesn’t weigh hair down.

The conditioner is thick, white, and feels like luxury between my hands. It smooths on easily and feels really rich and creamy on the hair. It has the same fragrance as the shampoo.

I don’t apply it to my roots as they become too greasy if I do. You can use it to co-wash too, but I’ve never tried it. I leave it for 3 minutes to do its magic.

Using the conditioner with the shampoo, my hair is beautifully clean, bouncy, and incredibly shiny. The fragrance doesn’t last on hair, which is good if you like it that way (I do).

Final thoughts on Rahua Voluminous Shampoo & Conditioner

Are they worth the money? Well, I’m in love with the results I’m seeing and feeling using Rahua Voluminous Shampoo & Conditioner. And they’re certainly giving my hair the lift it deserves, helping me feel better about my hair. Rahua oil is a unique and exciting ingredient!

Because of this, I’m looking forward to finding out how my hair responds to the products long term. I think the bottles will last a long time, so although they’re both quite expensive, they’re actually good value for money. Rahua certainly is a luxury brand and the gorgeous products are worth the cost if you can afford it.

Until next time!
