Hello again, skincare lover! Today I want to talk about using face oils for winter skincare. Winter is a troublesome time for skin. But it’s not just the cold temperature that bites. Dry winter air robs skin of vital moisture, leading to dehydration. Sadly, problems like eczema and psoriasis are worsened in colder months.

But adding a face oil to your winter routine morning and night protects and nourishes your skin. It can improve and strengthen the skin barrier so that skin is better defended from the elements.

And what’s more, face oils address specific skin concerns. For dry skin, using a face oil regularly can reduce dry patches and minimise fine lines. For acne prone skin, face oils can help calm the inflammation. And all skins benefit from the anti-ageing benefits of face oils.

Sounds worth it, right?

So, let’s talk about 3 of my very favourite face oils to use in winter: Terre Verdi FranChouliPom Nourishing Facial Serum, Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum, and Beauty Cleanse Skincare Anti-Fatigue Carrot Algae Marine Drops.

Face oils for winter

Terre Verdi FranChouliPom Nourishing Facial Serum

Best for: dry, mature skin. I use FranChouliPom in my AM routine before my moisturiser. Even though it’s designed for dry skin, it works perfectly for daytime use, especially when used with Terre Verdi moisturiser. I use just 3 drops for a glowy finish without an oil slick.

Why it’s great for winter skin: this fragrant oil diminishes dry patches with ease and brings all over moisturisation and anti-ageing benefits for happy winter skin. Mood boosting neroli oil lifts the winter spirits.

With vitamin and antioxidant-rich argan and pomegranate oils, frankincense and patchouli, skin is left feeling supple, nourished and taut.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

Best for: all skin types, but oily and combination will really benefit! I use this in my AM routine. Rosehip oil is truly valued by skincare experts and celebrities alike. And Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum is great value for money and offers more than just rosehip in the blend.

Why it’s great for winter skin: even oily, acne, and combination skin types can benefit from the protective and nourishing qualities of face oils through winter while addressing inflammation and not overloading skin.

This blend of rosehip, jojoba and borage oils, generously infused with frankincense, rose geranium, palmarosa, juniper and mandarin will feed your skin, allowing it to breathe and feel totally rejuvenated.

I’ve been a Balm Balm fan since becoming a LoveLula Accredited Blogger in 2017! This great all rounder makes a fantastic addition to your oil collection or a great place to start for an oil newbie!

Beauty Cleanse Skincare Carrot Algae Marine Drops

Best for: all skin types, especially sensitive. I use it in my PM routine. Carrot Algae Marine Drops are a potent de-stress serum, actually blocking the effects of cortisol on the skin. Isn’t that amazing? Especially during this current winter lockdown when stress levels are high due to restrictions.

Why it’s great for winter skin: camellia oil acts as superb emollient during winter months, while plant compounds from squalane and perilla work to increase elasticity and firmness. Its carrot and rosehip oils are natural alternatives to synthetic retinol. My skin glows with this Beauty Cleanse Skincare oil!

Combining modern biotechnology with nature’s regenerating plant oils, this serum is designed to strengthen skin’s resilience to modern lifestyle stressors of fatigue and inner-stress.

I have never been one for face oils, but these dry winters make me think I need to. I’ll look out for these brands.
